Hansi Flick expressed his satisfaction with Barça's victory against Real Madrid (3-2), which marked the first title of 25/26 for the Catalans, the fourth in the German coach's cycle
FC Barcelona revalidated the Spanish Super Cup title against Real Madrid (3-2), this being the fourth title for the Catalan team with Hansi Flick on the bench. The German coach is the first to win the Super Cup consecutively with its current format, in addition to defeating 'Los Blancos' in the last three finals.
In the press conference after the victory in Jeddah, the Barça coach stated he felt proud of his players' performance. Beyond the suffering in the final minutes, after Frenkie de Jong's expulsion, the Blaugrana team was superior from start to finish and deserved to win the title in regular time.
"The feeling after the final? It's excellent, **it was an important final, playing against Madrid is always fantastic. I'm proud, we played as we wanted**," began the manager, who has only lost one of his six Clásicos managed, with a record of 23 goals for and 11 against.
Flick revealed his plan for the final: the key was simply to score
Regarding his team's plan against Real Madrid, Flick assured that the only advice he gave his players was to score at least one goal. It was known that the Whites would be more conservative in their approach this time, with a greater defensive withdrawal, but always attentive to create danger on the counter.
"The team in general, not me as a coach, how they play and what they offer the fans, we can count on that. We are having successes and functioning as a team," he argued.
In that regard, he reiterated his satisfaction with the work done by the squad so far: "I am very proud, we played very well, keeping the ball and controlling the game. And in the end, the whole team played as we like. It hasn't been easy and we fought as a team".
Regarding the morale boost of starting the year with a trophy, Flick made it clear that the context of 2026 is different from the previous season, where the Catalans had to catch up in the league. However, he reiterated that the victory leaves him with "very positive feelings" due to the state of the squad and the players' response.
Praise for Raphinha and Support for Araújo
Individually, Hansi Flick had praise for Raphinha, once again the MVP of the final with a brace. The manager highlighted his character for trying again and again, as well as the work of all the forwards in carrying out effective pressing.
"His mentality is impressive, it influences the whole team. He missed the first opportunity, but he took advantage of the second and gave us confidence. We had a lot of pressure all over the field."
Likewise, Flick reiterated his support for **Ronald Araujo**. The 'charrúa', although not yet at full physical strength, played the final minutes and the locker room rewarded him by letting him lift the trophy.
"I think in this situation, for him to play and win the title is very important. I'm happy to see him back, he's very important for the locker room," he emphasized about the 'charrúa'.
