Robert Lewandowski reappeared in Barça's XI and did so by scoring the second goal of the Catalan team's victory in the Spanish Super Cup final, his fourth consecutive goal in finals against Real Madrid (3-2)

Calendar of FC Barcelona

Hansi Flick surprised by betting on Robert Lewandowski as the '9' in the 2026 Spanish Super Cup final. Against Real Madrid (3-2), everyone assumed Ferran Torres would start, as he had scored in the 'semis' against Athletic (5-0) and had been in the lineup for the last five matches, with the exception of the Copa del Rey game against Guadalajara.

However, Flick trusted 'Lewy's' hierarchy and experience, and the Pole did not fail. For the fourth consecutive Super Cup final, the 37-year-old striker found the net, this time to celebrate the goal that made it 2-1 for the Catalans.

In the 45+4', Robert received a through ball from Pedri González and got past the Real Madrid center-backs to finish with a soft touch past Courtois, chipping a control that initially seemed too long. For the '9', it was his tenth goal of 25/26 and his 111th with the Barça shirt in 167 official matches.

Sixth goal for Lewandowski in Clásicos

Furthermore, Lewandowski already has 6 goals in Clásicos and 12 in 18 official matches against Real Madrid, against whom he once scored a 'poker' in the Champions League with Borussia Dortmund and another brace with Bayern Munich.

The Pole always scored in finals against the Whites, all of them in the Super Cup, as he was out due to injury for the 24/25 Copa del Rey final (3-2). His only defeat in a decisive instance against the 'merengues' was in 2024, also in the Super Cup (4-1), a trophy he has already won three times with Barça (2023, 2025, and 2026).

In total, 'Lewy's' trophy haul in Spain now reaches six titles, with three Spanish Super Cups, two Leagues, and one Cup. The '9' is only missing the Champions League, which also eluded him during his first six seasons with Bayern, until he won it in 2020.

Lewandowski praised Raphinha's work

At the end of the match, Robert spoke with 'Movistar' about his feelings on winning another title with Barça. The number 9 acknowledged the importance of defeating Real Madrid once again, as well as Raphinha's opportunism within the Blaugrana system.

"Whenever we play Madrid, it's a big game. We played well in the first half, and the second half too, we looked for more goals, but we won and that's the most important thing," began 'Lewy'. He also highlighted the importance of continuing to play as a team and "having patience" to score in every game.

"Raphinha knows how he has to score, he's always there at the right moment. We are good as a team, we win as a team," Lewandowski pointed out. Although he is no longer an undisputed starter in the Barça XI, the 37-year-old forward is always ready to contribute his experience and goals for Hansi Flick's side.
