Hansi Flick's team faces the Super Cup as the first major event of 2026. The duel against Athletic Club will be a new chapter in a modern classic between two teams that have accumulated multiple clashes in finals and KO tournaments in the last decade. The winner will advance to a final that could once again pit Barça against Real Madrid or face an always competitive Atlético.
For the first time with the current format, a team arrives at the Super Cup as the current champion of La Liga and the Copa del Rey. In addition, Hansi Flick's team will also defend the trophy obtained last January after thrashing Real Madrid (2-5) in the final.
