The Supercopa of Spain always has been traditionally a tournament veraniego contested to gone and turn between the champion of LaLiga Santander and the champion of the Glass of Rey. Nevertheless, the format will change and also the dates in which it would contest the competition, that will have four teams.
According to the informations desveladas by the chain of Catalan radio 'Catalonia Ràdio', the Supercopa of Spain could happen to play in winter and, more specifically, in the month of January. Nevertheless, this drastic change in the calendar still has not been confirmed by the RFEF (Real Spanish Federation of Football).
What yes is confirmed by the newspaper 'ACE' is that the competition will contest it four teams, by what the definite dates of the new Supercopa of Spain could suffer variations in function to the calendar of the clubs that contest it. By what seems, the variation will exist regarding the days of party.
The change of format of the Supercopa
From the next season, the Supercopa of Spain will contest it four teams: the champion and the runner-up of LaLiga Santander and the champion and runner-up of the Glass of Rey. To day of today, there are two teams that are classified directly for the tournament (FC Barcelona and Valencia) and another virtually classified: the Real Madrid.
All this gives because the FC Barcelona is in the final of Glass and possibly was champion or sub champion of League. In this case, would classify Barça and Athletic like first and second of League, Valencia like finalist of Glass and Real Madrid like semifinalist with more titles. In case that the whites remained second in League, would fall the Athletic of Madrid and would go in the Betis, since it is the following semifinalist with more trophies of Glass.
When they decide LaLiga Santander and the Glass of Rey, will know also the crosses. These will form with the champion of League against the runner-up of Glass and the champion of Glass against the runner-up of League. Crosses in which the Barça will be sure, already was as representative copero or suspender belt.
