Ajax 'fishes' in La Masia with the signing of Eloi Gómez

Ajax managed to acquire the services of Eloi Gómez after the termination of his contract with FC Barcelona. The midfielder signed with the Dutch club after having a good season with the Cadet A of the azulgrana team.

The player will, for now, live in the under-17 of the 'godenzonen' team. In this way, Barça loses a very interesting profile, who decided at least two months ago that he would not continue in the Catalan team, mainly due to the high competition that exists in his position, both in the lower categories and in the projection towards the first team.

Gómez landed at La Masia after joining the Benjamin team from Gimnàstic de Tarragona, a youth academy that also saw Marc Bernal grow, a player who already lives in the first team of Barça and from whom the fans expect a great level when he is 100%.

Gómez's technical qualities did not go unnoticed at Camp Barça, much less in the Dutch team. In this sense, Marijn Beuke, Ajax's football director, stressed that the attacking midfielder adapts perfectly to what he is looking for in the lower ranks.

"Eloi is a typical Ajax attacking midfielder. He frequently participates in the construction of the game, shows initiative with the ball and enjoys playing attacking. He combines football intelligence with technical ability, which allows him to connect plays with one or two touches," he said.

He also stressed the fact that the player arrived at the azulgrana team at just eight years old. In addition, Ajax is confident that his adaptation will be quick, and considers that his incorporation represents a new promise with great potential for the future of the youth academy.

The player was also convinced by the club's economic proposal, apart from considering the moment opportune to make a change of scenery in his sports career.
