Calendar of FC Barcelona

The FC Barcelona board has been working for several months on updating all the contracts and clauses of the first-team squad. After the signing of Lamine Yamal's new contract, there are only six players who could start the 2025/26 season in the final year of their contract.

Of these, only five have their continuity in the team assured, while Iñaki Peña is expected to leave for Celta de Vigo shortly. Another four footballers' contracts end in 2027, one of them being Ansu Fati. The '10' is another of the definite departures, although it is still unknown whether or not he will finally accept Monaco's offer.

€1 billion to shield Barça's 8 'untouchables'

For now, a total of eight players (not counting Ansu Fati) are labeled as 'untouchables' in the squad. Lamine Yamal leads this group, with his contract being the longest (until 2031). He is followed by Pedri and Gavi (2030), as well as Raphinha and Alejandro Balde (2028).

Meanwhile, Jules Koundé and Ferran Torres have contracts until 2027 and, once the season has started, it is likely that the board will begin contacts to update their terms. In the case of Ronald Araujo, the 'Charrúa' (Uruguayan) renewed this year until 2029, but his release clause includes the possibility of negotiating his departure for a lower price in the early days of each transfer window.

In the upcoming summer transfer window, the center-back could leave for €65 million in June if he wishes. For the next window (January), this price will increase by €15M (to €80M) and so on in each window (€95M in summer 2026, €110M in January 2027...).

Another seven key players in the squad have a €500 million release clause. Dani Olmo and Pau Cubarsí's contracts end in 2029, while Fermín López and Ter Stegen's current deals conclude in 2028.

Meanwhile, Robert Lewandowski, Andreas Christensen, and Marc Bernal are on the list of players whose contracts expire in 2026. The midfielder (Bernal) has already agreed to a renewal until 2029, while the Dane (Christensen) still doesn't know if he will continue at the club or not. 'Lewi', on the other hand, is very likely to leave at the end of next season.

Furthermore, four Culé footballers have €400 million release clauses. Besides Iñaki Peña, Iñigo Martínez, Frenkie de Jong, and Eric García are also protected, although the player from Martorell (Eric García) and the Dutchman (De Jong) are awaiting renewal, as their contracts end in 2026. Iñigo, on the other hand, already has his contract extension for one more season underway.

Additionally, there are another four players with a €100 million clause. Marc Casadó and Gerard Martín have their continuity assured, as both their contracts end in 2028. Pau Vítor signed last summer until 2029, but it is almost certain he will go out on loan due to a lack of playing time at Barça.

The same applies to Pablo Torre. The Cantabrian has no place in the squad and, with only one year left on his contract, he is likely to be transferred for a fee around €5 million. However, his renewal is not yet ruled out.

Contractual situation of Barcelona's players out on loan

In the case of the three players loaned out by FC Barcelona for the 24/25 season, the board also has their respective permanent departures well underway before the start of the Azulgrana preseason. The first to leave will be Álex Valle, whose release clause is €6 million, a figure the Italian club Como is willing to pay.

Another whose days at Can Barça are numbered is Oriol Romeu. The midfielder has a contract until 2026 and a €400 million clause, but it is almost certain he will return to Girona (where he played on loan this season) for a lower compensation fee.

Finally, the most complex case, without a doubt, is that of Clément Lenglet. The Frenchman has a contract with the Culés until 2027, and his release clause is €300M, in addition to earning €16 million net annually.

However, the Azulgrana club hopes to resolve his permanent transfer to Atlético de Madrid as soon as possible, perhaps by granting him a free transfer. Diego Simeone has given the 'OK' for the operation, and the Frenchman would be willing to lower his salary to facilitate his departure.
