The forward thanked Barcelona, but was forceful: he is not looking for revenge, just to enjoy football again in Monaco

Ansu Fati already poses with the colors of AS Monaco, a team in which he will play the 2025/26 season on loan. This is without ruling out the alternative that he may stay on a permanent basis if the Monegasque team exercises the purchase option that appears in his loan contract.

Already as a player of the Principality team, Ansu Fati —after passing the corresponding medical tests and carrying out his first training session with his new teammates— gave his first statements regarding this new adventure that he is about to face.

In this sense, the player from Bisáu first thanked AS Monaco for betting on his services for this season, also commenting on how much he was attracted to the club's sports project:

"I am very happy to be here. I want to thank the club for betting on me. Since they called me and we had the first contact, I was very clear: I wanted to come, I wanted to continue growing, and I am very eager to start this new challenge and contribute as much as possible to the club and the team," he began by saying.

No desire for revenge against Barcelona

Likewise, Ansu Fati ruled out landing in the Monegasque team with a desire for revenge, to demonstrate that Barça was wrong to give him few opportunities in the 2024/25 season and now loan him to another team:

"Revenge? Nothing. I come to enjoy football, which I haven't had the opportunity to do for a long time. I come to enjoy, to contribute as much as possible, and hopefully we can do great things. Return to the national team? That will depend on my performance."

In turn, the left winger explained in what terms his departure from Barcelona took place this summer and what he expects from this loan compared to his loan in 2023/24 to Brighton & Hove Albion:

"Honestly, I think changes are for the better. Of course I will be here this season, but I will always be grateful to Barça. In Brighton I had my experience: many believe it was bad, but it was a beautiful experience. I started well, then I had an injury and I didn't have continuity. Hopefully here it will be different and I can have continuity and participate a lot if the coach sees it that way," he acknowledged.

"Honestly, I think changes are for the better. Of course I will be here this season, but I will always be grateful to Barça"

His relationship with Lamine Yamal and the culé dressing room

When reminded that in France many see him as "the Lamine Yamal that appeared before Lamine Yamal", Ansu Fati acknowledged having a great relationship with the young Spanish-Moroccan winger, and fondly remembered the rest of the culé dressing room: "Yes, of course we have spoken. We are always together in Barcelona and I know that he loves me very much and that he wishes me the best. It is something mutual, and the truth is that almost the entire team has wished me luck. They are good people with whom I have spent a lot of time in La Masia. I wish them the best, and especially Lamine."

In another vein, Ansu Fati wanted to explain how he feels physically to face this new challenge in AS Monaco under the orders of Adi Hütter: "Physically I am very well. I finished the season training everything, so I feel good."

Ansu Fati and the search for his best version

Finally, and returning to the topic of his physical condition and why he has not been able to recover his best version on the field, the culé youth player confessed to not having a specific explanation, although he assured that he is doing everything possible to return to the top of his game:

"I try to be as good as possible and I believe in God... in the end, what happens to me is something that I cannot control, but I can minimize the risks, and that is what I do. I try to work as hard as possible to be as good as possible and, if sometimes it doesn't happen, I keep fighting. I am sure that I will find my moment again and I will enjoy this again," he concluded.
