Atlético sets the pace for Lenglet: complex conditions for Barça

Is FC Barcelona close to facing a complicated summer with Clément Lenglet's departure? It is not entirely clear, but what is an imminent reality is that, at least, the situation this summer presents better prospects. On the horizon there is already a marked favorite to take over his services: Atlético de Madrid.

And yes, the French defender, with a contract with the culé team until June 30, 2027, had an interesting season as a loanee in the 'colchonero' team. He consolidated himself as the eighth player with the most minutes played in the 'rojiblanco' team this season (2,877), and the second among the central defenders, only behind José María Giménez (3,014). Thus, the Frenchman established himself as the starting left-footed defender in 'Cholo' Simeone's eleven.

Despite this, it is clear that from the Metropolitano, aware of Barcelona's desire to get rid of a Lenglet who has been causing headaches in the azulgrana entity for some time —which also has numerous assets in defense and has no sporting interest in having the Frenchman again—, they will try to negotiate his incorporation under very advantageous conditions.

The Madrid team would not be willing to assume his entire salary in a new loan. Therefore, they would also remain attentive exploring other options to reinforce that demarcation, such as Cristian 'Cuti' Romero, from Tottenham Hotspur, for example.
