Attention, FC Barcelona! Portugal reveals the final exit price of Viktor Gyökeres

The future of Viktor Gyökeres seems to be gradually moving away from Sporting CP,  and how could it not? The 26-year-old Swedish 'killer' is demonstrating stellar numbers this season 2024-25 (39 goals in 40 matches) showing that he is ready to embark on a new adventure with one of the big European teams and rub shoulders with the best in the world, to show what he is made of.

In light of this, it is not surprising that the upcoming summer market will become hectic around Viktor Gyökeres, who seems to be one of the most coveted names and for whom exuberant offers are likely to be made. It should not be overlooked that in the world of football, goals are highly valued and the '9' from Stockholm has proven to have them in abundance.

The new exit price of Viktor Gyökeres, is it affordable for FC Barcelona?

Recently, information has emerged from Portugal, specifically courtesy of the Portuguese newspaper 'A Bola', which will surely keep all interested teams in Viktor Gyökeres on edge. The conditions surrounding the probable departure of the Swedish forward from Sporting CP have been revealed, and although the numbers remain significant from an economic standpoint, they are considerably lower than the figures that had been circulating.

It is worth remembering that previously it was said that the Portuguese would not allow his departure for less than his release clause, valued at 100 M€. This  provision was only valid for the winter market in case there was a club willing to pay it.

However, according to what the aforementioned Portuguese newspaper has asserted, the transfer of Gyökeres would be in a range that goes from 65 M€ as a minimum to 75 M€ as a maximum. Furthermore, it is emphasized that it will be the player himself who decides his destination in case, as presumed, there is a bidding for his services during the upcoming summer.

At this point, apparently the priority of Viktor Gyökeres seems to be returning to English football, where he has already played with Brighton & Hove Albion, Coventry City and Swansea City,  and has attracted interest from several of the big clubs in that country such as Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea,  to name a few. However, it is clear that he does not rule out other options in elite teams on the continent, such as FC Barcelona, Bayern Munich and even Paris Saint-Germain,  teams that have been attentive to the movements surrounding his future.

How is Barcelona positioned in the race for Gyökeres' signing?

Now we will have to wait to see how this operation develops. As for FC Barcelona, it will be necessary to analyze the role it will play in this transaction. They could opt to acquire the services of the forward, based on the reduction of his price and on the solid relationship they maintain with Sporting CP, an entity with which they have made several transactions in the past and with which Deco, the sporting director of the culé team, seems to have a good relationship with its executives.

However, there is one point that could raise some controversy: would Gyökeres be willing to join the sporting project of FC Barcelona,  where he would probably not be an immediate starter? With Robert Lewandowski's renewal very close to being finalized, it is evident that the Pole would remain as the starting '9' and, if he manages to maintain the numbers he has been showing, his position would be solidly backed and not questioned.

Is Gyökeres willing to compete for the center forward position in that scenario? It is a question that, at first glance, seems unlikely, especially when Premier League projects could guarantee him a starting position in the near future and possibly tempt him with more attractive salary offers than those that Barcelona could offer him. Although the azulgrana team may be interested in Viktor,  they also have other 'top' options for the '9' position.
