Many European clubs have invested crazy amounts in the last five years in transfers, with the Premier League leading without question the top teams that have invested the most money. The FC Barcelona does not remain very back in this period

Calendar of FC Barcelona

From the winter of 2018, the FC Barcelona accumulates a negative balance of -257 million euros in signings. The group blaugrana wasted money in players like Phillipe Coutinho (135 'kilos) and Antoine Griezmann (€120m) between 2018 and 2019, those who beside other names like Miralem Pjanic (60M) and Nelson Semedo (35.7 'kilos') have represented an investment that, in the sportive, have been an authentic fiasco.

In this sense, the politics of signings of Josep María Bartomeu left to the club sumido in a financial crisis of which the current directive still struggles to go out. The problems with the 'fair play' financial are a ballast of the previous management that, the past summer, was resolved thanks to the 'crowbars', a formula already descartada in order of LaLiga for this year. Only in the 2018/19, the Barça invested 141 'kilos' in signings, which added to the 298.5 net millions spent in the 2019/20.

The arrival of the pandemia and the exit of Bartomeu went down the cost for the 2020/21 to 112 'kilos' by concept of traspasos, while in the 2021/22 continued the descent in the investment with a total of 69.5 millions. For this season, the cost went back to be considerable, with 158 'kilos' invested in the 8 reinforcements arrived in summer. With this, considering the invested and it ingresado by sales, the balance of the last polish is of -257 million euros for the Barça.

The Premier League, indisputable leader in cost

However, the negative balance culé remains still far of the figures reached by the English clubs. Andl Chelsea, that in the last market spent 121 'kilos' in Enzo Fernández, adds a negative balance of -749 million euros in the net balance of traspasos. They follow him Manchester United with -670 'kilos', Arsenal (-544 millions), Tottenham (-€447m) and West Ham (-435 million euros).

In a top 10 dominated exclusively by clubs of the Premier appears the Juventus in the ninth place with -337 'kilos'. They follow him Liverpool (-€323m) and Fulham (-271 'kilos'), just by in front of the Barça (place 11). Before the 'Vecchia Signora' find West Ham (-435 million euros), Newcastle (-€422m), Aston Villa (-€370m) and Wolverhampton (-355 'kilos').

Curiously, Paris Saint-Germain appears much more backwards with -202 million euros, being surpassed even by the AC Milan (-€227m). More far it finds the Manchester City (-128 'kilos'), today in the eye of the hurricane by the irregularities that reports the Premier. Beside the Barça, the only integral of LaLiga in the top of clubs that greater negative balance accumulate included in the listing is the Athletic of Madrid (-97 'kilos').
