Marc Pubill moves away from Barcelona: Milan has already taken concrete steps and could snatch a signing that was liked at Can Barça
FC Barcelona will apparently lose one of the options it had on its agenda to reinforce the right-back position, not only with a view to the present, but also as a choice for the future. The name in question is Marc Pubill, currently serving UD Almería in the Spanish Second Division, but who is about to change his environment for Serie A.
Marc Pubill, one step away from AC Milan after passing medical tests
The Terrassa-born player is very close to becoming a player for AC Milan, a team that, as reported by journalist Giacomo Iacobellis of TuttoMercatoWeb, would have already carried out the corresponding medical examination for the Paris 2024 Olympic champion. However, according to the aforementioned source, this medical visit would be a preliminary phase of the agreement, as the rossoneri want to know in depth the state of his knee.

It is worth remembering that Pubill, while he comes from a 2024/25 season with physical regularity, in the 2023/24 season he did suffer a significant injury to his left knee: an osteochondritis dissecans, for which he underwent a heterologous graft in the lesion bed.

UD Almería will not let him go for less than 20 million euros
Having successfully passed the aforementioned medical examination, we will see if official negotiations open with UD Almería. The Indálicos, who have Pubill under contract until 2029, apparently would not ask for less than 20 'kilos' —his clause is 40 M€— for the right-back.
In fact, in the past summer market, they were about to let the player go for a similar price. Atalanta was very close to signing him, in an operation that was going to be closed for €16 million fixed plus four in variables.
However, everything ended up falling through because La Dea tried to change the terms of the negotiation, based on the serious knee injury suffered by Pubill in 2023. The Bergamo-based team proposed a loan with an obligation to buy subject to the number of matches played, a formula that apparently did not convince either the player or Almería.
Barcelona already had an agreement with Pubill, but financial fair play stopped it
Now we will have to see if Milan finally ends up securing his services this summer. He is a young full-back who, incidentally, was remarkably liked by Barcelona. It was even said that the Catalan team had an agreement with the player last summer, in which he would arrive on loan with an option to buy. However, with the well-known salary limit problems of the Catalan club, the operation ended up being discarded.
