Harry Kane continues to be one of the most lethal goalscorers today and FC Barcelona is not losing track of him. The 'Culés' team needs, given the possible departure of Robert Lewandowski in June 2026, the signing of a '9' will be a market priority next year.

The current striker of Bayern Munich, despite already being a veteran (he will turn 33 in the summer of 2026, has performed at his best since his arrival in Germany and above all, has been consistent, emulating 'Lewy's' performance with the Munich team.

In his two seasons with the Bavarians, Kane has played 98 games in which he has 89 goals and 26 assists. That is, the English 'killer' produces 1.17 goals per game. In addition, he averages 0.90 goals per 90 minutes, a record even higher than that of Erling Haaland at Manchester City (0.85).

Barça's plan: Kane as Lewandowski's heir

The 32-year-old striker has a contract with the German team until June 2027 and has a market value of 75 million euros according to 'Transfermarkt'.

Although the cost of the player is very high, the duration of his contract could be a decisive factor for Barça to achieve an affordable price, since, if Bayern does not renew his contract next year, Kane will be able to leave at 'zero cost' in 2027. Therefore, the 'Culés' would try to sign him for a figure close to 60 million, an amount that the club was planning to invest in Nico Williams.

In that sense, Barça faces a similar scenario to the one they took advantage of with Lewandowski in 2022. The Pole, after having only one year left on his contract and knowing of Bayern's interest in Haaland, refused to renew and publicly expressed his interest in joining the 'Blaugrana' team, pressuring the board for his departure in that summer market.

Lewandowski's precedent for signing for Barça

For the 2022/23 season, Barça would sign Robert for a price of 45 'kilos' plus another 5M€ in variables (linked to the achievement of objectives), after a difficult negotiation in which the Bavarian club was pressured by the striker. Bayern was asking for 50 million euros, however, 'Lewy' managed to slightly lower his price.

However, one of the biggest barriers to the Englishman's signing could be his very high salary, as he earns around 25 million euros gross per year. However, this fee is very similar to what Lewandowski currently receives (26 'kilos'), 6 M€ from the ceiling of 32 he received in 24/25.

As things stand, the 'Blaugrana' team could negotiate a salary similar to what Kane currently receives in Germany. Back to the 1:1 rule and with a much more consolidated squad, along with the definitive return to the Spotify Camp Nou, Barça's economy would be much more solid next summer.

Why would Harry Kane be an ideal '9' for Barça?

Harry Kane, already 32 years old, started the 2025/2026 season on the right foot scoring a 'hat-trick' against Leipzig. In addition, he scored another double against Wegen Wiesbaden in the Pokal (German Cup). 'Hurrikane' is still fully in force and is preparing to play his third World Cup with England next year.

Robert Lewandowski arrived in Barcelona at the age of 33 and the English goalscorer would arrive at the same age (his birthday is in July). Will the Pole's story be repeated?

Kane can undoubtedly contribute great things in Barcelona such as regularity, collective play, leadership on and off the field, hierarchy, off-the-ball runs and diagonals, assists, along with the most important thing, many goals.

'Lewy', barring any surprises, will leave in May at the end of 25/26, already 37 years old and after four years where he has been an example of professionalism and dedication. At the moment, the '9' has 101 goals and 20 assists in 148 official appearances.
