The signing of Marcus Rahsford remains a real possibility for FC Barcelona this summer, as long as the player and his club, Manchester United, accept the terms proposed by the Blaugrana team to negotiate. And, unlike other operations, in this case Barça has an advantage for several reasons.

On the one hand, the signing of a left winger, although it is a market priority for the Culés, does not represent a matter of 'life or death', far from it. The board and the coaching staff plan to reinforce their attacking flanks to reduce the physical load on Lamine Yamal and Raphinha, providing Hansi Flick with more alternatives in the squad.

In that sense, Rashford has gained ground thanks to his manifest interest in playing in Barcelona and his complex situation at Manchester United. For the 'Red Devils', resolving the departure of the 27-year-old player is a mandatory task this summer.

Manchester United needs to get rid of Marcus Rashford as soon as possible

Marcus is not in the plans of coach Rúben Amorim and his salary (around 20 million gross), one of the highest in the squad, is a 'big' problem for the club. The player has even lost his number ('10'), which is now in the hands of Matheus Cunha and, although he has a contract until 2028, he is a fixed discard for the 25/26 season.

Not in vain, the Manchester native already played the second half of the previous season on loan at Aston Villa. This scenario presents a favorable situation for Barça to negotiate a signing on terms that favor its financial 'Fair Play'.

Barça may have an advantage in the negotiation for Rashford, but...

For now, the Culés only see it feasible to incorporate Rashford through a simple loan, without a mandatory purchase option and assuming no more than 40% of the striker's current salary (10 'kilos' net).

These conditions, although acceptable for Marcus, do not meet United's financial aspirations. Although the player is willing to extend his contract for two or three more years to reduce his salary, the club prefers to cash in with an immediate transfer.

In principle, 'Man U' was asking for 48 million for Rashford, but English media assure that at Old Trafford they will accept 40 million net to resolve the departure of the left winger. Aston Villa, unlike Barça, is interested in securing his sale, but this price is above their budget for the summer market.

Rashford and Barça are considering their market options

The Culés, on the other hand, will only sit down to negotiate for a one-year loan. The operation could go until the last days of August, in the final stretch of the market and both United and Rahsford prioritize finding an exit as soon as possible.

For now, the striker is training apart from the squad along with the rest of Manchester's discards. Will the 'Red Devils' lower their economic aspirations?

In addition to Marcus, the Blaugrana team has options such as Luis Díaz, Antonio Nusa and Ademola Lookman on their radar to reinforce the left side of their attacking trident. The English international, on the other hand, sounds like a possible signing for Fenerbahçe and, more recently, for Juventus.
