Ansu Fati is heading to Monaco, but Barça is not letting him go completely: they are working on a possible renewal before sending him to the Monegasque club
Ansu Fati's future involves facing a new adventure soon at AS Monaco. The Monegasque team, once the respective medical examination is completed, will assume the loan of the Azulgrana youth player for the 2025/26 season. However, the Culés, before lending him to the Principality team, seem to have a plan in mind with the left winger.
As reported in Què t'hi jugues from Cadena SER, Barcelona plans to renew Ansu Fati for one more season. Now, his link with the Barcelona squad would not conclude in 2027, but rather in the year 2028. A move that, according to the cited source, also arises from a matter of financial 'fair play'.
Renewal and subsequent loan: a strategy repeated by Barcelona
It is worth remembering that in the past, FC Barcelona has already renewed the contract of other players who did not have a leading role in the squad, before sending them out on loan. Just as happened, for example, in 2022 with Samuel Umtiti, renewed before being loaned to Lecce, or with Clément Lenglet in 2024, before his loan to Atlético de Madrid, with the aim of prorating the expense of their emoluments.
A similar maneuver to what could be happening with Ansu Fati, who, according to reports, is valued at 13.9 M€.
Barça and a contractual extension to have greater control over Ansu Fati's future
In turn, the contractual extension of Ansu Fati could be a maneuver by the club to maintain closer control over the future of the '10' Culé. With a contract until 2027, as he currently has, if after his loan to AS Monaco they do not exercise the purchase option in the agreement (between 11 and 12 million euros approximately), the player would return to the Azulgrana team with only one year of contract remaining.
A situation that would reduce Barcelona's room for maneuver. Conversely, if he is renewed until 2028, the range of options to resolve his future are greater.

Imminent official announcement of the loan
At this point, it seems to be only a matter of time for the official announcement of the operation, once Ansu passes the medical examination on June 28 (estimated date), and joins the team before July 1, the day on which Adi Hütter's team, the coach of the Monegasque team, will begin pre-season work.
It will be his second adventure outside of FC Barcelona, after his loan to Brighton in the 2023/24 season. How will the striker do in Monaco? Only time will tell.
