Fiorentina snatches one of La Masia's 'pearls' from Barça: Eman Kospo

Barça has made official the transfer of Eman Kospo to Fiorentina. The 18-year-old centre-back leaves for Fiorentina for 400,000 euros, plus a percentage of a future sale

Fiorentina has managed to 'steal' one of the most promising centre-backs from La Masia from FC Barcelona. The 'viola' team officially announced the signing of the Swiss Eman Kospo, an 18-year-old defender who had an outstanding performance with the Juvenil A last season.

The team led by Juliano Belletti won the treble (League, Cup and Youth League) with the player from Aarau playing 39 matches, most of them as a starter. In the League, he was only a substitute in 3 of the 25 matchdays he played, while in the Youth League he accumulated 879 minutes of action in 12 matches.

In total, Kospo scored 3 goals with the blaugrana shirt and the club hoped to renew him to send him on loan to another club, as his contract expired in 2026. However, Fiorentina moved quickly to close a low-cost transfer, for just 400,000 euros. A pity, as he was one of the defenders with the best projection of the culé youth teams.

Barça reserves a percentage of sale with Eman Kospo

The only blaugrana consolation with the Swiss player's departure was to reserve a percentage of a future sale, probably 15%, according to 'Mundo Deportivo'. In addition, Barça may also have priority in the market if they consider recovering him in the future.

Eman arrived at La Masia in 2023 from GC Zurich to be part of the Juvenil A. This year he was supposed to make the leap to the reserve team, but with Barça Atlètic in Segunda RFEF (fourth division), the defender preferred to listen to offers to try his luck in a much more powerful league.

Now, Kospo joins the Fiorentina squad, hoping to earn a place with Stefano Pioli's team. The Florence team will play in the Conference League in 25/26, a tournament where they have been runner-up twice (2023 and 2024).

Hansi Flick loses an alternative in defence with Kospo's departure

With a height of 1.91 m., the centre-back stands out for his physical solidity in aerial play, as well as for his technical quality and tactical order. Solid in the exit and always well placed in the back, the player from Aarau was already on Hansi Flick's radar to add call-ups with the first team in 25/26.

The Swiss player, however, would have a hard time adding minutes, as the squad has, for the moment, five centre-backs, one of them destined to leave (unless there is a surprise, Andreas Christensen). In his first season, the German coach took Sergi Domínguez into account as an alternative when injuries hit the team in the first half of the season.
