The honorary president of Bayern Munich, Uli Hoeness, took a 'dig' at Athletic Club for the renewal of Nico Williams. The 22-year-old forward renewed until 2035, increasing his release clause to 95 million euros, that is, 37 'kilos' more compared to his previous price (58 M€).
In that sense, Hoeness assured that both the winger and the Bilbao team played with the interest of Bayern and other teams, including FC Barcelona, with the aim of securing a much more lucrative transfer in the future.
"In my opinion, Bilbao is simply trying to get more money because next year it will cost more than 60 million", the Bavarian manager began by saying in a chat with 'BR24Sport'. Vincent Kompany's team could even improve the contract that the 'lions' offered to Nico, but the player never considered leaving Spain.
Finally, the Spanish international will receive a salary starting from 7 million net per season (14 M€ gross), consolidating himself as a franchise player in San Mamés.
Bayern forgets about Nico Williams and aims for other targets
In that sense, he showed his annoyance at the position of Athletic and the forward. "Nico Williams our main target next year? No, it's over", Hoeness sentenced. Bayern, in this way, consummated its second failure in the summer market, after Florian Wirtz's 'no' weeks ago.
The former attacking midfielder of Bayer Leverkusen preferred to go to Liverpool, who also does not seem willing to let Luis Díaz go. Like Barça, the Munich team is after the Colombian international, but everything indicates that the 'Guajiro' will stay at least one more year at Anfield.
First, because the 'reds' do not intend to let him go for less than 80 million euros and his renewal seems on track. Second, because the tragic loss of Diogo Jota invites the club to preserve the rest of its figures this summer.
Rafael Leao, the 'plan B' of Bayern Munich for the summer market
In that sense, media such as 'BILD' and 'Sky Sport' point to Bayern's interest in Rafael Leao. The Portuguese wants to leave AC Milan, but the 'rossoneri' team asks for about 100 'kilos' for their '10'. This reason, in fact, has distanced Barcelona from the race for the Portuguese.
Deco, however, does not rule out reactivating contacts with Milan, since the absence of the Lombard team in European competitions in 25/26 may lead to the departure of some of its figures, as was the case of Tijjani Reijnders, who went to Manchester City for 55 million.
