The Turkish league continues to strongly point as a possible destination for Ter Stegen in 2026. The latest team interested in the Barça goalkeeper would be Besiktas

The future of Marc-André ter Stegen remains far from being defined this season. The German expects to receive medical clearance in the coming weeks, but he knows that Joan García and Wojciech Szczesny are the first alternatives for the Barça goal in Hansi Flick's plans.

Although the captain's contract runs until 2028, **a loan move** seems the most sensible option to try and salvage the season. 'Matts' had to undergo back surgery again in June and, because of this, missed the entire first half of 25/26In January, just five months before the World Cup, the '1' needs to play again to avoid jeopardizing his presence in what would be **his first World Cup as a starter and captain with Germany**. To do so, however, Ter Stegen seems obliged to look for a new team.

The Barça technical staff, while respecting his role in the locker room, has already chosen García and Szczesny as starter and substitute this season. The player from Sallent will regain his position once he returns from the knee injury suffered at the end of September, while the Pole remains the first alternative after renewing his contract in July for two more years.

Besiktas Looks to Take Advantage of Ter Stegen's Situation at Barcelona

In this regard, several clubs are interested in the German goalkeeper, beyond his prolonged inactivity due to injuries. According to 'Fanatik', **Besiktas** would be one of the teams looking to negotiate **a six-month loan** for the 33-year-old goalkeeper, with no mandatory purchase option.

Sergen Yalcin's men are sixth in the Turkish league, 9 points behind leaders Galatasaray. In 25/26, the team failed to qualify for European competitions, a point that could work against the 'black and whites' in their eagerness to convince Ter Stegen

The Barça captain was already on the radar of Galatasaray and Fenerbahce last summer, but his injury cut short any possibility of negotiations. Furthermore, the Barça '1' was not very interested in listening to offers from other teams. A stance that the goalkeeper has softened in recent weeks.

Although Marc-André understands that he can still fight for the starting position in the Barça goal, **the proximity of the World Cup forces him to seek regularity and confidence**, something that Hansi Flick will not give him in Barcelona. The relationship between the two is cordial, but the manager does not count on 'Matts' in the medium and long term.

Barça to Facilitate Ter Stegen's Loan

Barça, for its part, will give the goalkeeper facilities to negotiate a simple loan. The club already took advantage of his long-term injury in July to register Joan García and needs to resolve his departure to free up part of the salary mass his contract occupies.

Ter Stegen still has the bulk of his salary to collect (around 14 million gross per year) and any club trying to sign him will have to assume a percentage of his earnings. Besides Turkey, the Mönchengladbach player could also return to the Bundesliga or try his luck in French football. In the summer, Monaco also had him on their radar.
