The FC Barcelona board has full confidence in the final decision of the CSD regarding the registrations of Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor due to a key factor: the closure of the winter transfer market

The Superior Sports Council (CSD) has until April 7 to issue a final resolution regarding the registrations of Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor at FC Barcelona. Although LaLiga and the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) argue that the azulgrana club submitted the necessary documentation to resolve the registrations of both players late, the CSD granted the precautionary measure in favor of the club to prevent the players from being affected by a legal resolution.

"The failure to adopt this precautionary measure would cause serious economic and sporting harm to the club and, above all, to the footballers. This could also damage the interests of the Spanish National Team, as well as those of other national competitions," the Council argued in its resolution on January 8. In this sense, the chances of reversing this position are, at this point in the calendar, minimal for a fundamental reason: the closure of the winter transfer market.

The Reasons for Barça to Trust in a Positive Ruling from the CSD

If the CSD were to issue a negative ruling, both Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor would be left without a federation contract. The market closes this Monday, February 3, at 23:59, meaning both footballers would find themselves signing with other clubs as free agents or, in legal terms, "unemployed players" due to federation resolution. This contradicts the arguments of the precautionary measure, directly affecting Barça and, primarily, the Spanish internationals.

Furthermore, UEFA will close the deadline for clubs to register their new signings from the winter transfer market next Thursday, February 6. If the CSD were to reverse the ruling, both the midfielder and the forward would be left without the option to play in European competitions for the rest of the season. In the case of the employer, it is also pending the appeal presented before the Administrative Court, requesting the annulment of the precautionary measure.

For now, LaLiga has exerted the most pressure on the CSD to reverse the ruling, but without presenting compelling appeals that demonstrate that Barça actually violated the regulations by submitting the necessary documentation for the sale of the VIP boxes at Spotify Camp Nou late. Although the money from this 'lever' took longer than expected to reach the club's coffers, the club submitted all the paperwork to the employer on the morning of December 31, generating sufficient 'Fair Play' to retain both players until the end of the 2024-25 season, in addition to returning to the 1:1 rule for signings without restrictions.
