FC Barcelona is aware of the interest of Atlético de Madrid in signing Clément Lenglet. However, this transaction could face certain obstacles that must be overcome
FC Barcelona seems to be getting closer to resolving one of the 'folders' that has recently caused them the most headaches: the case of Clément Lenglet. The French defender, 29 years old, has lost prominence in the Catalan project, which boasts a solid central defense made up of at least five very good level players. Faced with this, the Catalan team is now looking to offload the native of Beauvais, whose high salary hinders his transfer to another team.
Despite this, FC Barcelona is starting to see light at the end of the tunnel regarding the case involving Clément Lenglet, who is under contract until June 30, 2026. The defender, loaned this season to Atlético de Madrid, has become one of the key players for the 'colchonero' team, accumulating 1,691 minutes in 20 matches, regaining his best form and establishing himself as the starting left center-back in the usual four-line scheme of 'Cholo'.
Atlético de Madrid wants to retain Clément Lenglet
Apparently, Diego Pablo Simeone, the coach of Atlético de Madrid, holds a high regard for Clément Lenglet. In fact, as reported in 'SPORT', the Argentine manager has asked the sports management of the 'colchonero' team to do everything possible to secure the services of the French defender on a full-time basis. Although negotiations have not yet begun, it is rumored that not only is the option of signing him being considered, but also the extension of his loan agreement is not being ruled out.
It is speculated that FC Barcelona would be willing to let go of Clément Lenglet for around €10 million, a sum that Atlético de Madrid seems unwilling to match. The 'indio' team is aware that Barça's situation in financial fair play regulations could lead the Catalan club to offer more flexibility in negotiations for a player whose salary would have a significant impact on the club's wage scale.
Furthermore, Clément Lenglet's good adaptation to Atlético and his satisfaction in the team could pave the way for negotiations, especially if he is willing to reduce his salary to stay.
