Cristiano Ronaldo's uncertain future after his enigmatic message: discover what options are being considered for his next destination.
Cristiano Ronaldo's stint in Saudi Arabia is apparently coming to an end, after two and a half seasons. This idea was born from an enigmatic message that 'CR7' left on his social networks, in which he asserted:
"This chapter is over. The story? It is still being written."
A message that many interpreted as a farewell... And with good reason, since he made the post after the last commitment of the 2024/25 season for Al Nassr, a team that closed the year with a 3-2 defeat against Al Fateh.
| SEASONS | GOALS | ASSISTS | |||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2022/23 (19 MATCHES) | 14 | 2 | |||
| 2023/24 (45 MATCHES) | 44 | 13 | |||
| 2024/25 (41 MATCHES) | 35 | 4 | |||

Although the Portuguese scored a goal in that match —his 35th goal of this season—, it was not enough for Stefano Pioli's team to impose their will. This is how a gray 2024/25 season closed for the 'Knights of Najd', in which the team finished third in the domestic championship, without options to compete in the Asian Champions League and without standing out in the other competitions it played:
- King's Cup: Round of 16
- Saudi Super Cup: Runners-up
- AFC Champions League Elite: Semifinals
2025 Club World Cup: Cristiano Ronaldo's next destination?
From this, speculations about the Portuguese star have not stopped arising, especially considering that his contract with the Arab team expires on June 30 and that, until now, information about a possible renewal is scarce. Everything indicates that the forward, five-time winner of the Ballon d'Or, will embark on a new adventure at the age of 40. His great goal: to reach the round figure of 1,000 goals at a professional level.
The big question is: what will be his next football destination? In this sense, the rumors are varied. The theory that takes more strength is that Cristiano could join a team that will compete in the 2025 Club World Cup. In fact, Gianni Infantino, president of FIFA, hinted at this option during a live broadcast of the streamer 'IShowSpeed', where he commented:
"And Ronaldo could also play with one of the Club World Cup teams, there are conversations with some clubs. So if any club is watching and is interested in hiring Ronaldo for a Club World Cup, who knows, who knows, who knows, in a few weeks, it will be fun."
What will be 'CR7's next destination? The options on the table
At this point, there are teams that sound strong as possible destinations. One of them is Monterrey, a participant in the 2025 Club World Cup, where Cristiano would coincide with who was his teammate at Real Madrid, Sergio Ramos.
Other rumors link him with clubs such as Palmeiras or Al-Hilal —the latter with the plus of being in the same country where he currently plays and also qualified for the Club World Cup—. Even the most romantic do not rule out an almost utopian return to Real Madrid, at least for this competition, in what would be a symbolic 'last dance'.
Will it happen? For now, there is no certainty. But the final chapter of Cristiano Ronaldo is yet to be written.
