Guille Fernández is one of the players who could leave Barça in the final stretch of the summer market. Will the midfielder go to Germany?
Guille Fernández has a golden opportunity to develop his skills and professional career after the interest shown by Borussia Dortmund. Journalist Gianluigi Longari has reported that the German club has asked FC Barcelona about his current situation.
The technical skills of the 17-year-old player caught the attention of Dortmund, who have closely followed his evolution. Guille, trained at La Masia, has stood out in midfield with the Blaugrana subsidiaries, scoring 7 goals and 2 assists with Barça Atlètic in 40 matches so far.
The homegrown player's style of play fits perfectly with the one promoted by the 'die schwarzgelben', a team that prioritizes maintaining possession of the ball and verticality, so it would be an ideal scenario for the Catalan midfielder to develop his talent.
Barça does not want to lose Guille Fernández definitively
Guille Fernández has a contract with the culé club until June 2027 and has represented a key piece for the Barça subsidiary. His great talent has also led him to have approaches with the first team, during the stage of Xavi Hernández he participated in several training sessions where he showed his quality.
However, the first team squad is full of midfielders (Pedri, Gavi, Fermín, De Jong, Bernal, Casadó and Olmo) so their chances of seeing quality minutes in 2025/26 are slim.
During the pre-season, the Rubí native traveled with the team to the Asian tour, but only played 12 minutes in the match against FC Seoul (3-7). In the League, Hansi Flick called him up for the debut against Mallorca, but he stayed on the bench.
In that sense, the negotiations between the Catalan and German clubs could be oriented towards a loan without an option to buy, allowing the homegrown player to play minutes in the first division of a league as competitive as the German league.
Similarly, if it were a transfer, Barça could negotiate a transfer in the order of 5 million euros, considering that Fernández is currently listed in the order of 3 'kilos'.
In that case, it is likely that the culés would reserve a percentage of their rights and a buy-back option. With Barça Atlètic playing in Segunda RFEF (fourth division), the departure of Guille and other homegrown players is more than logical this summer. In addition, a sale would help the club to raise cash in the final stretch of the market.
Dortmund, an ideal destination for young talents
Borussia Dortmund has a brilliant record in the development of young people, achieving titles at the local level and great feats in international competitions.
The 'black and yellow' club stands out for its eye-catching style of football led by players with good feet, fast, dynamic and who are in the early stages of their football career, as was the case of Jude Bellingham, Erling Haaland, Mario Götze, Ousmane Dembélé, among many others.
Thus, the 17-year-old midfielder would have the opportunity to demonstrate his qualities at the highest level and be able to grow professionally, so a loan could benefit both teams. Is Borussia Dortmund an ideal destination for Guille Fernández?
