Barça would already consider the winter market closed. Unless there is a last-minute surprise, the Catalans do not expect any movements and are already focused on the summer
Unless there is a last-minute 'bombshell', FC Barcelona does not expect any news on this last day of the winter transfer market. The Blaugrana entity tried to strengthen Hansi Flick's team with a winger and to offload a center-back and Ansu Fati during January, but without success. For that reason, the German is already assuming that he will fight for all titles in the second half of the season with his current squad, and all movements are postponed to a summer that is expected to be very busy.
As reported by sources from the Catalan club to 'SPORT', there are no announcements planned for arrivals and departures in the last hours of the winter window. The incorporation of Marcus Rashford was the only operation that was 'cooking' in the offices of Spotify Camp Nou, but once he decided to join Aston Villa, the Catalans 'closed the shutters' on the market.
The Englishman was a player that the Blaugrana coach liked, who had requested, if it were possible to register any player, an attacking reinforcement to complete the squad. Barça was optimistic about this due to their return to the 1:1 rule, but needed to finalize some departures that did not happen. Only the youth players Unai Hernández and Pau Prim left the Catalan capital, so all possible signings have been postponed to June, where a significant financial effort will be made.
Barça's priorities for the coming months
Given the stagnation of the 'exit operation' to gain salary margin and be able to register the forward's contract, the Blaugrana focused on closing strategic renewals to 'secure' their future. Ronald Araujo finally signed a new bond with the institution until 2031, while Pedri and Gavi extended their stay in the Catalan capital until 2030. Additionally, Iñigo Martínez also reached an agreement with the Catalans and only the official announcement is pending.
Apart from the renewal of Robert Lewandowski, whose commitment will be automatically extended for another year by playing two more matches, the Catalans are focused on clarifying the future of Frenkie de Jong, whose contract ends in 2026, and from February negotiations would begin with Jules Koundé and Raphinha to ensure their continuity in the team, as their contracts expire in 2027 and the club wants to tie them down long-term.
With an eye on the summer, both Flick and Deco are clear that the arrival of a winger is a priority, in addition to studying the possible signing of a center forward to begin the 'smooth transition' from 'Lewy'. The German also wants to strengthen the flanks, with particular attention to the right-back position, and the pivot position is in limbo, since if De Jong ends up leaving, Barça will need to replace him with a specialist in addition to the long-awaited return of Marc Bernal, who could don the shorts again in the first weeks of the 25/26 season.
