Ferran Torres and the signing of Nico Williams: "we can form a good trio"

Ferran Torres spoke about the possible arrival of Nico Williams to Barça. Although the signing of the Basque player means more competition in attack, the 'Shark' has no doubts about the signing

The squad of FC Barcelona is still waiting for the possible signing of Nico Williams. The last to speak about the incorporation of the Basque winger was Ferran Torres, who has already recovered from the appendicitis operation that left him out of the final stretch of 24/25.

According to Ferran, they both met in Ibiza during the holidays, but avoided talking about the market. However, he left the club door open to the Athletic 'crack' if, finally, his signing is completed.

"All the top players want to come to the big teams and Barça is one of them. I don't know what will happen, but I hope it will be for the best. We have already played together in the national team, I would like to play with him and we could form a good trio (together with Lamine Yamal) if everything works out", explained the 'Shark'.

Although the arrival of Williams means more competition for a place in attack, Torres is confident in continuing to be important for Hansi Flick's plans. The '7' will again be the second center forward of Barça, behind Robert Lewandowski.

Ferran Torres will not listen to offers to leave Barça this summer

The '7' of Barça attended the press during the visit to the sports campus in Valencia that bears his name. The player shared with the children who every summer take advantage of the campus to train, this year with a special focus on minors affected by the DANA in 2024.

Regarding his physical condition, Ferran assured that he feels very good "and mentally even better". In addition, he took the opportunity to rule out again any rumors related to his departure in the summer market that is just beginning.

"I see myself at Barça and I'm going to stay at Barcelona. I am optimistic and I am going to fight to earn a starting place in the team", commented the Spanish international. Due to his surgical intervention at the end of May, the player from Foios could not travel with the national team to the 'final four' of the Nations League.

The 24/25 was, until now, his best season, adding 19 goals and 7 assists in 45 games (17 as a starter). Flick will again be very careful with the management of Lewandowski's minutes, who will turn 37 in August.

Barça needs to raise money, but Ferran is not for sale

Hence Torres, without another '9' available in the squad, has his role assured for the next season. His contract is not, for the moment, a problem for the club either, as he signed until 2027 with a termination clause of 1,000 'kilos'.

Although Barça needs to raise money this summer with a 'top' sale to balance accounts after amortizing the signings of Joan García, Nico Williams and any other incorporation that may be closed in the coming weeks, Ferran is not, for now, on the list of transferable players.

The club looks favorably on an offer higher than 50 million euros, but if the 'Shark' rules out negotiating, the club will respect his position. The forward has earned his place in the squad and the board will not force the departure of any player with a current contract for at least two more years and with Flick's confidence for the 25/26 season.
