Barcelona will receive a modest sum thanks to Jutglà's return to LaLiga after `three seasons in Belgian football. The deal is expected to close soon
FC Barcelona is reportedly close to receiving a percentage from the sale of its former player, Ferran Jutglà. The forward is said to be close to joining Celta de Vigo, who finished the 2024/25 LaLiga EA Sports season in seventh place.
According to information revealed by 'Mundo Deportivo', Jutglà wishes to return to the Spanish league after playing three seasons with Club Brugge in the Jupiler Pro League.
This would fulfill the wish of the centre-forward who left Barça in the 2022 summer transfer window. In the 2024/25 season, the forward scored 14 goals and provided seven assists in 2,992 minutes.
The deal for the player between Barcelona and Brugge was closed at 5 million euros, but the Catalan club retained 10% of a future sale. This percentage will now enter the club's coffers once the arrival of the Sant Julià de Vilatorta native to the 'Celeste' team is made official.
The 'cut' Barcelona will receive from Jutglà's move to Celta
In this context, 'MD' also noted that his agent, David Aranda, is reportedly finalizing negotiations with the 'Olívico' club for the number '9' to land at Balaídos in the coming days.
Thanks to the 10% of the player's rights that Barça kept, the Blaugrana will receive an additional 200,000 euros for the centre-forward's transfer to the 'Celtista' squad.
Similarly, Ferran Jutglà's transfer, pending official confirmation, would be around €7 million. This means the Belgians would sell him for €2 million more than what they paid Barça in 2022.
Celta de Vigo is making strategic moves to build a squad that will compete in the UEFA Europa League next season. The sale of Fer López to Wolverhampton for 23 million euros plus two in add-ons has given the Galician team financial muscle.
Furthermore, the 'Celestes' have also acquired Ilaix Moriba, another player with a past at Barça. From this deal, Barcelona will receive around 600,000 euros.
Ferran Jutglà's time at Barça
The player arrived at the Catalan club in the summer of 2021 and joined the ranks of Barça Atlètic after his contract with another team from the same region, Espanyol, ended.
In Barcelona's reserve team, he scored 19 times and provided five assists in 32 matches. In his only season as a 'Culé', he also had the opportunity to play with the first team, an opportunity he made the most of.
Under the management of the 'Culé' coach at the time, Xavi Hernández, Ferran Jutglà made his debut against Osasuna in a 2-2 draw. After his debut, the forward went on to play in at least eight more matches, bringing his total to nine appearances with the first team, in which he scored a couple of times.
The player's departure came after it was revealed that Xavi would not be counting on him for the 2022/23 season, which led Ferran to decide on a change of scenery once the season was over. Now, the Catalan player is set to return to LaLiga. Will Celta be his new team?
