The Dutch full-back is negotiating with the 'Reds', who are considering paying his €40M release clause, and is moving away from the 'Azulgrana' radar
For FC Barcelona, the name of Jeremie Frimpong, the 24-year-old right-back currently playing for Bayer Leverkusen, does not seem foreign. In fact, speculations suggest that the Dutch player is one of the options that the 'Azulgrana' sporting management likes to reinforce the right flank. Currently, beyond having Jules Koundé as an undisputed starter, it seems that a further alternative is needed to give depth to that position.
In that sense, the addition of the '30' from Leverkusen could fit into the 'Culé' sports planning: a full-back with very good performance at the offensive level, who is constantly seen taking advantage of the right flank, standing out for his physical power, speed, dribbling ability and tendency to score. All this, without being out of tune in his defensive work.

In turn, his contractual situation could invite an offensive for him. Frimpong is a player whose departure in the next summer market does not seem like a utopia. His release clause, set between €35 and €40M, represents a strong but affordable investment. Likewise, it has been commented that the Catalan team would have a certain favoritism in an eventual bid, since, apparently, the player wants to join Spanish football if he ventures to change leagues.
Liverpool accelerates for Jeremie Frimpong
However, despite these conditions, FC Barcelona could be running out of this alternative for the next summer market. According to journalist David Ornstein in 'The Athletic', in recent hours there have been conversations between Frimpong's entourage and Liverpool, who would be willing to execute his release clause.
In addition, another source, journalist Nicolò Schira, expands the information stating that the agreement is well underway and that the Dutch full-back would join the Anfield club until 2030.

The 'Reds' want to fill the void left by Alexander Arnold on the right flank
It is worth remembering that Liverpool's right flank looks, for the moment, orphaned ahead of next season, since the usual owner of the full-back position, Trent Alexander-Arnold, has made his departure at the end of the season official. This has motivated the English team to accelerate the search for a top-level right-back, and in these searches they have identified the Dutchman as their main target.
It would be a possible operation both for the economic amounts and for the player's predisposition, who would not mind joining the sports project led by Arne Slot. A move that, if materialized, would lead FC Barcelona to cross Frimpong off their list of future signings and look for new alternatives in the market.
