Italy insists: could Vlahović reinforce Barça's attack this summer? Discover all the details
FC Barcelona seems to have closed the doors to new incorporations this summer market, after reinforcing the priority positions in the squad: goalkeeper and wingers. However, from Italy they insist that the Blaugrana could add one more incorporation before the transfer window closes.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the culé team would be closely following Dušan Vlahović, the 25-year-old Serbian striker. The source asserts that both Barça and Newcastle are the main teams interested in acquiring the services of the forward.
Barcelona's interest in Dušan Vlahović: a real option?
The basis of this operation seems to reside in the fact that Vlahović's cycle at Juventus could be coming to an end. His contract expires on June 30, 2026, and with no signs of renewal, the Vecchia Signora would be willing to transfer him this summer to avoid losing him as a free agent, especially considering the distance the '9' has taken with the Turin fans.
However, the operation is not easy for FC Barcelona. Although Juventus would set an affordable exit price – around €25-30M – the real obstacle is Vlahović's salary, the highest in the bianconeri squad.
The economic challenge of signing Vlahović with a covered forward line
The Serbian killer, who this season scored 17 goals and provided five assists in 44 matches with the Turin team, earns approximately €22M gross per season. A difficult amount to fit into the Barcelona salary scale.
Based on this, the transfer of Vlahović would be unfeasible unless Dusan accepts significant concessions. The chances of seeing him wear the Blaugrana shirt this summer are, at the very least, reduced, especially because the culé team, which at the time showed interest in the attacker, now seems focused on other candidates with projection towards the 2026/27 summer market.
Also, for this season, the '9' position is solidly covered with the tireless Robert Lewandowski, seconded by Ferran Torres. And with the certainty that Rashford can also perform in that role.
