Future secured: Fermín López, 'untouchable' at FC Barcelona

Fermín López has become a protagonist at FC Barcelona. His good performance in his first two seasons with the team has aroused the interest of several European clubs, especially in England. However, the young midfielder has ignored the offers and wants to stay.

In principle, the only way López could leave Barça is if the club itself advises or suggests a change of scenery for economic or sporting needs. A scenario that, for now, is not contemplated. 

In the two seasons he has been in the first team, the player from Huelva has left good numbers both with Xavi Hernández and with Hansi Flick on the bench. He has played 88 games, adding 19 goals and 12 assists.

Fermín López: “Barça is my dream and I will stay”

Fermín López obtained the Estrella Damm Trophy for Best Player of the Gamper, after scoring a double in the 5-0 thrashing of Como. The '16'  was very happy with the present he is experiencing at the club and with scoring goals in front of his fans.

"The work is non-negotiable, the pressure is also high, like last year, when we did very well, and to continue like this," he stressed after the thrashing in an interview for 'TV3'.

Similarly, the 22-year-old footballer reassured fans about his possible transfer. "I want to stay here, it's my dream and I will stay, I'm happy to help the team. Many things have been said, but I'm going to continue defending these colors and working like the best, so that the culés are calm," he said.

As a sign of his commitment to the club, Fermín López acquired a home in Sant Joan Despí, a town that is minutes from the Joan Gamper Sports City, where he can be closer to training and the core of the team. In that sense, the player from Huelva, whose contract ends in 2029, ratifies his desire to stay many years at Barça.

Aston Villa, United and Chelsea are the main interested parties in Fermín López

At the moment, there are three clubs in England that have joined the race to take over the signing of the player from Huelva and these are Aston Villa, Manchester United and Chelsea. Fermín, in his record, already boasts a European Championship and an Olympic gold with Spain.

According to ‘SPORT’, Manchester United is the one with the best proposal of the three. The ‘red devils’ are willing to pay 70 million euros for his transfer.

Despite this, Fermín has no intention of negotiating with any team and Barça considers him untouchable. For Hansi Flick, the '16' and Dani Olmo have been a very effective duo to accompany the offensive trident, in the attacking midfielder position.
