Barça is not yet making moves for Denzel Dumfries. The Dutchman's price drops in July, but the 'culés' are aiming for other market priorities
FC Barcelona does not plan to make an offer for Denzel Dumfries this summer. The board of Inter Milan ruled out an ongoing negotiation with the 'azulgrana' team, although the 29-year-old player would have even been offered to Barça in recent days.
"We have not received any formal approach from Barça for Denzel Dumfries. There is a release clause, it's true... but it will expire soon and we will keep going," explained the 'nerazzurri' sporting director, Piero Ausilio, referring to the Dutchman's future, in statements shared by Fabrizio Romano.

The right-back's clause drops to 25 million euros this July, but the 'azulgrana' team does not plan to make an expense of that magnitude for a position theoretically well covered by up to three players.
Barça's reasons for 'passing' on the signing of Dumfries
For now, Jules Koundé will remain untouchable on the right side, while Eric García is shaping up as his replacement. Héctor Fort is, for now, the only natural right-back in the squad, but everything indicates that he will leave soon.
Like Eric, Fort's contract ends in 2026, but his renewal, unlike Martorell's, does not seem a priority. Koundé must also renew in the coming months, although his contract demands less effort because he has a link with the club until 2027.
Beyond Héctor's possible departure, Hansi Flick believes that, if Barça has to sign another full-back, the most sensible thing would be to go for a replacement for Alejandro Balde. This is always provided that Gerard Martín decides to leave this summer for England, where he has two good options to go (Wolverhampton and Bournemouth).
In that case, the chosen one could be Alejandro Grimaldo. Like Denzel Dumfries, the Bayer Leverkusen defender has a release price of 25 'kilos'. The former 'culé' youth player is already a regular in Luis de la Fuente's squads and would be delighted to return to Barcelona.
The Premier League, a possible escape route for Denzel Dumfries
Meanwhile, the Dutch international insists to Jorge Mendes on the possibility of finding him a team before his clause increases again in August. The Rotterdam native has a contract until 2028 and was rumored to be on the radar of Manchester City, although the 'sky blue' team has not made any contact with Inter Milan either.
Another option that has been strongly rumored is that of Newcastle, although the 'magpies' still have the experienced Kieran Trippier (34 years old) as their first option for the right side. The truth is that Dumfries seems willing to force his departure from the 'nerazzurri' team, where he already has 22 goals and 26 assists in 179 official appearances (4 seasons).
The 29-year-old player has played in a couple of Champions League finals, being a key piece in Simone Inzaghi's scheme. Cristian Chivu is counting on him for the 25/26 season, but the defender believes he can make the leap this year to a more ambitious sports project. Will the Premier League be his next destination?
