Jonathan Tah seems to be moving away from Barça. The center-back is one of the most sought-after free agents in the summer market, and a major Italian club could sign him soon.
FC Barcelona is starting to find the signing of Jonathan Tah complicated in the upcoming summer market. The German defender will leave Bayer Leverkusen after a decade as a free agent, a factor that increases the number of teams interested in him.
Although sources like the German 'Sky Sports' have been claiming for several weeks that Barça already has a verbal agreement with the center-back, the truth is that nothing is closed yet, and several clubs are pushing for the 29-year-old defender.
One of them is Barça's next rival in the Champions League: Inter Milan. Simone Inzaghi has asked the board to incorporate another defender, and the one from Hamburg is one of the best-valued options.
In fact, the club has already contacted Tah's agent to discuss the terms of his contract. The center-back billed around 3 million euros gross per year this season, emoluments that he could double after his arrival in Milan.
Jonathan Tah to Madrid? Xabi Alonso's arrival could change everything
In that sense, the low cost of his transfer, in addition to his experience and physical and technical characteristics, make him an ideal reinforcement for Barça. Players like Andreas Christensen and Eric García may leave in the summer, which would make it necessary to add another center-back.
However, there is another heavyweight rival for the Blaugrana team in the race for the still Bayer Leverkusen defender. And that is that the possible arrival of Xabi Alonso to the Real Madrid bench could take Jonathan Tah straight to the Santiago Bernabéu.
The 'merengue' team prioritizes the arrival of, at least, one center-back to fill the gap left by Nacho and cover the repeated absences of Éder Militao and David Alaba, both prone to suffering long-term injuries.
Hence, after his arrival in Madrid, the coach from Donostia could take with him one of the leaders of his Leverkusen. This season, Tah has 3 goals and 1 assist in 46 games (4,129 minutes), missing only one league game due to a viral condition.
