Jamal Musiala and Bayern Munich are still unable to resolve the renewal of his contract. The winger insists on setting an affordable release clause for FC Barcelona and other major clubs in Europe.
Bayern Munich still cannot resolve a fundamental issue for the future of the sports project led by Vincent Kompany. After nearly two months of negotiations, the club has not managed to finalize the renewal of Jamal Musiala, whose contract expires in 2026. FC Barcelona and other European giants are closely monitoring the future of the 21-year-old winger, considering the possibility of negotiating a lower transfer fee if the player ultimately decides against signing an extension of his contract with the Bavarians.
Musiala joined Bayern's youth academy in 2019 after leaving Chelsea. The winger made his first-team debut in 2020 and has already scored 57 goals and provided 37 assists in 184 official matches with the club. For Barça, the German international is one of the alternatives for the left wing, a position that is also strongly linked to Nico Williams, Rafael Leao, and Luis Díaz. However, the '42' from Munich would be a significant market coup for a Barça team that, in 2022, managed to snatch their great goalscorer of the previous decade, Robert Lewandowski, from the Bavarians.
Musiala Will Renew, as Long as His Release Clause is Affordable
In this regard, 'BILD' and other German media report that the factor hindering Musiala's renewal relates to the value of his release clause, a point not specified in his current contract. The aforementioned newspaper mentions a figure close to 175 million euros, but the player wants to set a much more affordable price for Barça or other major clubs. Initially, the Stuttgart native leans towards a price close to 100-120 'million', an amount that does not entirely convince Bayern.
Jamal is currently valued at around 140 million euros on Transfermarkt, and his renewal is considered an absolute priority for the Bavarian board. This season, the '42' has scored 14 goals and provided 3 assists in 24 matches (1,633 minutes) with Vincent Kompany's team. At 21 years old, the forward is the 'jewel' with the best projection in German football, and his profile would fit perfectly into Hansi Flick's scheme. Additionally, with Barça back to the 1:1 rule, a significant sale would suffice to negotiate his transfer next summer.
