It wouldn't just be Jan Virgili: Dani Rodríguez, another target for Mallorca. Find out how his possible departure is progressing

Calendar of FC Barcelona

The 2025/26 transfer market is approaching its end and the future of Dani Rodríguez at FC Barcelona remains up in the air. The player from Astigarraga, who recently recovered from an acute dislocation in his right shoulder, will have a hard time adding minutes in the first team this season. Therefore, it is not surprising that the 'Azulgrana' team does not look unfavorably on a possible departure of the player to another destination.

In this context, one of the clubs that sounded like a favorite to incorporate him was Carlos Corberán's Valencia CF, who, after Fran Pérez's departure to Rayo Vallecano, was looking for an offensive reinforcement to expand their squad. However, the reality is that Valencia's interest will not go beyond a simple feeler.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the Valencian club has given up negotiating with the 'Culés' for Dani Rodríguez, arguing that they are now focusing their efforts on a forward with more experience in the First Division. It must be considered that the youth player has only played one match in the elite: the 38 minutes against Real Valladolid on matchday 34 of LaLiga 2024/25.

Mallorca emerges as the favorite to sign Dani Rodríguez

Now, the fact that Valencia CF has dropped out of the race does not mean that the Basque winger's departure is ruled out. In fact, according to sources close to the situation, RCD Mallorca has positioned itself as the team with the best options to acquire the services of Dani Rodríguez this summer.

The Balearic Islands team, which apparently has already finalized the signing of Jan Virgili (official announcement pending), has maintained frequent contacts with FC Barcelona in recent days. Also, it should not be overlooked that, among the names mentioned in the various summits between the 'Culé' sporting director, Deco, and representatives of the Mallorca team, Héctor Fort was also mentioned.

Dani's future: loan, transfer or continuity at Barcelona

For now, it is not clear if RCD Mallorca will launch an offensive this summer for Dani Rodríguez. If this happens, there is also no clarity as to whether the 'Bermellones' will opt for a loan or a definitive transfer. It will all depend on the negotiations.

The forward is well valued by Hansi Flick, who considers him an interesting offensive resource. However, his outlook in the first team is complex: the right side is covered by Lamine Yamal and Bardghji, while the left has Raphinha and Marcus Rashford.

With this scenario, there is also no intention to condemn the player to spend the entire season at Barça Atlètic, competing in the Segunda RFEF, equivalent to the fourth category of Spanish football, which would be a significant setback in his development.
