Italian press reports that Juventus is still not giving up on Ronald Araujo. The 'Old Lady' is preparing an offer close to 70 million euros for the Uruguayan.
FC Barcelona could receive a new offer from Juventus for Ronald Araujo next week. According to various Italian media, including 'Gazzetta dello Sport' and 'Tuttosport', the 'bianconeri' are willing to double their initial proposal for the Uruguayan international, putting 70 million euros net on the table to finalize his transfer. For Barça, the '4' is not for sale, although a proposal of 70-80M€, without a doubt, is very tempting for the club.
Initially, Juve did not seem willing to put that much money for Araujo. However, the imminent transfer of left-back Andrea Cambiaso (24 years old) to Manchester City would give the club enough money to cover the arrival of the 'charrúa'. In Turin, they expect to receive 65 'kilos' net for Cambiaso, who is set to become the fourth winter signing for the team managed by Pep Guardiola (the third defender to join the club in January).
Likewise, the departure of the Italian left-back forces Thiago Motta's side to incorporate another 'top' defender, with Ronald being the preferred option for the Juventus coach. The Barça central defender reappeared earlier this year against Barbastro and has left very good impressions in his recent appearances against Real Madrid and Betis. Not surprisingly, Hansi Flick considers him indispensable in his lineup for the coming weeks, given the absence of Iñigo Martínez.
Juventus may approach the minimum amount requested by Barça for Araujo
However, with their next offer, Juve is getting much closer to the minimum set by Barça to let Araujo go in the winter market. The Turin side presented an offer a couple of weeks ago for 35 'kilos' that the Barça board did not even consider. In 2023, Bayern Munich wanted to take the player from Rivera for an amount close to 100M€, but the central defender was considered non-transferable at that time.
This 2025, Ronald's situation has taken several turns in recent weeks. The central defender, knowing he was a substitute after his return to action, gave the green light to his agent to talk with Juventus. Despite this, the injury of Iñigo and the public support from the locker room and the fans, as well as from the board and coaching staff, made him change his mind. Deco hopes to finalize his renewal in the coming days to put an end to the rumors about the captain's departure, whom the club still considers a leader and a reference for the sports project led by Hansi Flick.
