Barcelona will not be able to cash in on Óscar Mingueza. The right-back, for whom the Catalans retained 50% of his sporting rights, has decided to leave Celta at the end of his contract in June

Calendar of FC Barcelona

Óscar Mingueza has reportedly decided to leave Celta de Vigo at the end of the 2025/26 season. The full-back's contract expires in June, meaning he can negotiate as a free agent with any club from January 1st of this year. Several teams in England and Italy were monitoring his future, and the youth product of FC Barcelona has reached a preliminary agreement with a giant of Serie A.

According to journalist **Fabrizio Romano**, **Juventus** has reportedly reached a formal agreement with Mingueza to sign him in June on a 'free transfer'. The player from Santa Perpètua de Moguda arrived at Celta via this route in 2022, after a couple of seasons with Barça's first team.

Barça says goodbye to its chances of cashing in on Mingueza

The Blaugrana club agreed to let him go for free, retaining 50% of his sporting rights. With an affordable clause (20 million euros), the Catalans hoped to cash in on the full-back, but in the end, after several transfer windows flirting with trying his luck in other leagues, Mingueza decided to fulfill his contract with the Vigo team

Finally, Óscar advanced talks with Juventus, ruling out a 'low cost' winter transfer. Clubs like **West Ham** and **Aston Villa** were also very interested in the Catalan defender, who was an undisputed starter at Celta for three and a half seasons

Beyond his affection for the Galician club, the 26-year-old footballer preferred to leave Balaídos for free, leaving Celta and Barcelona with no options to earn a few million in their coffers. Mingueza is valued at around 18 'kilos' on the 'Transfermarkt' website and will be able to negotiate a higher salary and signing bonus in Turin as a free agent.

In his time at Celta, the Barça youth academy product has scored **7 goals and provided 12 assists in 122 official matches**. Despite his imminent departure, coach **Claudio Giráldez** will continue to consider him a key player in his system, thanks to his versatility and ability to play on both flanks.

Juventus Secures First Summer Signing with Mingueza

For Juventus, on the other hand, the agreement with Óscar Mingueza represents the first reinforcement for the 26/27 season for the squad now led by **Luciano Spalletti**. The 'Old Lady', at the moment, has no natural right-back in her squad, while **Juan Cabal** and **Jonas Rouhi** are her only available left-backs.

For now, Spalletti has opted for a three-man defense, while Weston McKennie and Andrea Cambiasso are playing as wing-backs. With Mingueza, the Italian coach gains a full-back with great depth for both flanks, although the player from Santa Perpetua de Mogoda feels more comfortable on the right, his natural side.
