Fermín López could soon receive a new irresistible offer to leave FC Barcelona. The latest reports indicate the interest of a Saudi club in the player from Huelva, taking advantage of the fact that the Arab league market closes next Wednesday, September 10 at 11:59 PM (10:59 PM CEST).
Although the transfer window for the five major European leagues closed on September 1st one minute before midnight, any Arab team can take a star to their league if the player gives the 'Ok'. In the case of the '16' of Barcelona, this scenario is unlikely.
Fermín was tempted by Chelsea and Newcastle in the final stretch of the summer market, with offers in the order of 60 million euros and salaries considerably higher than what he currently earns in Barcelona (around 6 'kilos' gross).
The Arab mega-offer: enough to convince Barça?
However, the Spanish international fulfilled his promise to stay and fight for a place with Hansi Flick's team. In that sense, beyond the millions of Saudi football, the player from El Campillo is not willing to listen to new offers to change his environment, much less if it is a league of lower hierarchy.
In any case, in Arabia they will make an effort to try to convince Barça to put López up for sale. The offer would be around 70-80 million euros, a figure difficult to reject for a Barcelona team still in trouble with 'Fair Play' financial.
The summer closed without the expected return to the 1:1 rule, since the auditor Crowe Spain only audited 58 of the 100 million euros derived from the sale of the exploitation rights of the VIP seats of the Spotify Camp Nou in the financial report for the 24/25 financial year.
In that sense, the club needs to earn at least 40 'kilos' more to balance its accounts and operate without restrictions in the next winter market, in addition to regularizing all contracts in the first team squad.
Barcelona would only sell Fermín if the player asks to leave
In the coming weeks, the board must close the renewals of Frenkie de Jong and Eric García, since both end their contract in 2026 and are very important pieces in Hansi Flick's plans. The same may happen with Andreas Christensen, extending his link to avoid a 'zero cost' exit next summer.
However, the club does not intend to compromise or force the departure of any of its figures to balance 'Fair Play'. FC Barcelona would only accept a 'top' offer for Fermín López if the 22-year-old player asked to leave. A scenario that is currently ruled out, as the player from Huelva feels valued by the coaching staff.
The '16' has 19 goals and 11 assists in 90 official matches with the first team of Barça. In the 25/26 season, he was a starter against Mallorca and has accumulated 78 minutes of action in two league matches. With a contract until 2029 and a termination clause of 500 'kilos', his future is assured with the Barcelona team, despite million-dollar offers from exotic leagues such as the Arab league.
