Robert Lewandowski spoke again about his future during the concentration with Poland. The '9', although his contract ends in June, is in no hurry for now to define where he will play in 26/27

Calendar of FC Barcelona

FC Barcelona and Robert Lewandowski could go their separate ways in 2026. The forward is currently in the last year of his contract and, at 37 years old with a high salary, his departure next summer seems a foregone conclusion. However, should he continue to deliver goals on the field, the '9' will keep the debate about his future open.

On Sunday, Lewandowski was the MVP of the victory against Celta (2-4) with a hat-trick that allowed him to reach 108 goals in 159 games for the Catalan team. Although injuries have hampered his performance in recent months, the Polish international remains one of the most lethal strikers in Europe

It's no wonder he has scored at least 25 goals for 14 seasons with Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich, and Barça (2012-2025). So far, he has scored 7 goals in 9 LaLiga matchdays this season. Even so, his continuity with the Blaugrana is uncertain.

An exotic league, for now, doesn't interest Robert Lewandowski

In the event that Barça definitively decides not to renew him after the World Cup, Lewandowski seems to have a clear idea of staying in Europe. The '9' already had 'top' offers from Arabia months ago, but leaving for an exotic or second-tier league is not in his plans.

In fact, some information related to the 37-year-old footballer indicates **his desire to retire in Barcelona**. If the Blaugrana team decides to open the door for him and no elite team is interested in him, **Robert does not rule out retirement at the end of the 2026 World Cup**.

This, of course, always provided that **Poland** secures qualification for the tournament. At the moment, Jan Urban's team is second in Group G with 13 points, three less than the Netherlands (16). This Friday, the Poles host the 'Orange', in a duel that will feature 'Lewy' and **Frenkie de Jong** as protagonists

Beyond the rumors related to his departure from Barcelona in 2026, Robert Lewandowski, like the Barça board, remains completely calm about the future. Both parties prefer to wait until a much more advanced stage of the season to make a decision. At least that's how the '9' explains it when talking about a possible renewal.

"I still don't know the answer. Even if they contacted me now, I wouldn't answer that question," the 37-year-old forward began during the Poland training camp. In that regard, he added: "I also have to feel what's best for me. I'm calm now, I'm not in a hurry, and at this moment, I don't expect anything else."

Likewise, 'Lewy' also doesn't feel pressure regarding his goal-scoring output in 25/26. The forward scored 42 goals last season and already has 7 this season. "I don't know if I'll be able to match last year's numbers, when I'm on the field, the goals per minute are similar to last season," the Warsaw native pointed out.

Thus, Lewandowski's future at Barça looks set to be decided in the first few months of 2026. Robert is currently the highest-paid player on the squad (26 million net) and, if he renews, he will have to accept a significant salary adjustment.
