Liverpool has reportedly begun talks with Joshua Kimmich's camp to sign him this summer. The 'reds' see the German as the ideal replacement for Alexander-Arnold

The Liverpool has already given up on Trent Alexander-Arnold. The Englishman's contract expires at the end of the season, and all signs point to him leaving Anfield Road as a free agent to join Real Madrid at no cost. For this reason, the 'reds' sporting management has set to work to find the ideal replacement for the right-back, and Joshua Kimmich would be the chosen one to take his place in the team.

The situation of the German at Bayern Munich is similar to that of the 26-year-old defender at Merseyside. His contract with the Bavarians also ends on June 30, and although negotiations to extend it are ongoing, the reality is that there has been no significant progress that suggests the player will continue under Vincent Kompany next season.

For this reason, the German outlet 'TZ' has reported that contacts have already been initiated from Anfield with Kimmich's camp to convince him to join Arne Slot's ranks starting next summer. The 'reds' are even willing to pay up to 25 million euros to sign him this winter, but it is practically impossible for the Munich side to part with one of their top stars mid-season.

Kimmich plays coy about his future

For now, the player continues to deflect questions regarding his future. After the last Bundesliga match against Wolfsburg, the midfielder stated that "nothing has changed since last week. There is no new status," referring to comments in which he hinted that all options remain open for the next season.

The Bayern, for its part, hopes to convince him to stay in Bavaria beyond the summer of 2025. The player is attracted to the project led by Kompany, but economic differences continue to stall negotiations. Meanwhile, Liverpool seeks to take advantage of this situation to make a move for one of the most coveted pieces in the market.
