Barça could incorporate another striker from English football into their radar this summer. In addition to Marcus Rashford, Nicolas Jackson could also arrive on loan. Is the Senegalese a viable signing?
Chelsea continues to accumulate players in their squad. The latest addition to the London team is Joao Pedro, who arrived at Stamford Bridge for 63.7 million euros and immediately joined the squad to play in the Club World Cup.
The Brazilian was key in the 'blue' victory against Fluminense (0-2), with which Enzo Maresca's team advanced to the final of the tournament organized by FIFA. The explosion of the former Brighton striker, in turn, may open the exit door to Nicolas Jackson.
Unlike the brand new South American reinforcement, the Senegalese attacker had a weak performance in the World Cup. Although he gave an assist, he was sent off in the second match against Flamengo (1-3) and received a two-match suspension.
In the quarterfinals he reappeared against Palmeiras, but remained on the bench. In that sense, the English do not rule out putting Jackson on the market, a striker with characteristics that can fit very well in Hansi Flick's Barcelona.
Nicolas Jackson: An Ideal Striker for Barça?
The Banjul native, in addition to his experience in Spanish football with Villarreal, is a very versatile striker. The Senegalese can play as a winger on both sides, although at Chelsea he has played more as a '9' with coach Enzo Maresca.
His main attributes are his speed and ease in winning aerial duels, although he also exploits spaces very well and, thanks to his mobility, allows players like Cole Palmer and Pedro Neto to arrive with danger in the rival area.
In 24/25, Jackson scored 13 goals and 6 assists in 37 matches. In two seasons, he has accumulated 30 goals and 12 assists in 81 matches, while with the 'Yellow Submarine' he scored 13 goals and 6 assists in his only season at El Madrigal, 22/23.
Barça Could Negotiate Jackson's Loan with Chelsea
Beyond his good performance, the signing of Joao Pedro and the incredible number of players that the 'blues' accumulate in their squad (46) could open the door for Nicolas through a loan. The 24-year-old player signed until 2033 for 37 million and his current value reaches 50 'kilos'.
Regarding his salary, he currently receives 6.2 M€ net per year. Barça, if negotiating a loan, would have to assume a majority percentage of this amount, probably about 4-5 'kilos'. A similar scenario to the one that would bring Marcus Rashford to the Blaugrana team.
In addition to Jackson, Chelsea can release forwards such as Liam Delap, David Fofana and former Barça academy player Marc Guiu, who are simply left without a place in a squad that is overflowing in all its lines. Should the Blaugrana team go for the winger with a past at Villarreal?
