Luis Díaz is becoming the priority for Barça for next summer. Deco is convinced that the Colombian is the ideal signing to strengthen the wing position
Luis Díaz is starting to gain traction as the next big signing for FC Barcelona. The blue and claret entity has made it a priority to bring in a reinforcement for the left wing in the summer, and although several top-tier names make up the 'casting' of the club's sports management, the figure of the Colombian has emerged as the leading candidate to bolster the position for the upcoming season.
According to 'SPORT', the natural course of the wing market has been shaping the roadmap for the Catalans. 'Stars' like Marcus Rashford and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia were considered real possibilities for the club last January, but their signings by Aston Villa and Paris Saint-Germain, respectively, have led them to be discarded by the blaugranas, who only viewed their acquisitions as 'opportunities' during the winter window.
On the other hand, the operations for Nico Williams and Rafael Leao, two of Joan Laporta's big dreams, are not convincing at Can Barça. In the case of the star from Athletic Club, his inconsistent performance this season has cooled the interest of the culés, who no longer see him as a priority despite his desire to wear blue and claret. The Portuguese, for his part, would be too expensive for the club's ambitions, as Milan would not ask for less than 100 million euros to transfer him.
Luis Díaz has all the cards to reinforce Barça
Similarly, 'low-cost' alternatives like Mohamed Salah and Leroy Sané, who are out of contract with Liverpool and Bayern Munich at the end of the season, are also not considered by the blaugrana entity due to their age, leading all paths to the arrival of the 'Guajiro'.
From the offices of Spotify Camp Nou, with Deco at the helm, they view the option of Díaz very positively, whose incorporation was explored last summer. The Portuguese sporting director knows him perfectly from his time at Porto and has kept track of him since his arrival at Anfield Road. The culés believe that he is in the ideal moment to strengthen the team and his contractual situation is a plus, as his link with the 'reds' expires in 2027 and there are no news about his renewal.
Moreover, the forward has already confessed to being a fan of Barça and has publicly expressed his desire to settle in the Catalan city at some point in his career, which could tip the scales in favor of the blaugranas if they decide to pursue his signing. So far, there have been no significant movements in this dossier, but the Catalans are well informed about everything happening around them and the player is very well positioned on the club's list of potential signings.
