Liverpool's board insists on receiving a minimum of €80M for Luis Díaz. Barça, on the other hand, is considering a lower price to sign the Colombian winger

Negotiations between FC Barcelona and Liverpool for the transfer of Luis Díaz are becoming complicated a couple of weeks before the formal opening of the summer transfer market. The 'red' team is managing a minimum price above the culé budget to let go of the 'Guajiro', who is only waiting for an agreement between the parties to wear the blaugrana shirt.

The latest information indicates a price in the order of 80 million euros as a starting point in negotiations with the Merseyside team. 'Lucho' is priced at around 70 'kilos' on Transfermarkt and his contract ends in 2027.

Hence, Liverpool feels at an advantage to negotiate for the Colombian international, beyond the need to raise funds once the transfer of Florian Wirtz closes. The German represents an investment in the order of €130M, but Díaz is not, for now, a discard or bargaining chip for Arne Slot's team.

Barça is clear: they will pay a similar amount for Luis Díaz or Nico Williams

Barça, for its part, does not intend to spend more than 60 million euros on the signing of a left winger this summer. The club has already paid the 25 'kilos' of Joan García's clause to Espanyol and needs to raise funds to think about a new reinforcement.

In principle, this amount was always clear to the board since last summer. Barça had Nico Williams as a priority, but the Basque preferred to stay one more year at Athletic. Therefore, the culés opted for Dani Olmo to reinforce their attack.

This year, Nico has returned to position himself as an option after a 'summit' between Deco and his representative. Including the CPI, the transfer of the Spanish international would reach 64 'kilos', €58M to be paid immediately into the coffers of the Bilbao team.

Well, this would be the maximum price (€60M) that the Catalan team will agree to pay for Luis Díaz. Therefore, the economic gap between Liverpool's aspirations and Barça's budget seems to distance the 28-year-old winger from Catalonia. However, there are still many weeks ahead for the parties to negotiate based on their financial situation.

Luis Díaz will only leave Liverpool to play in Barcelona

The Colombian, meanwhile, is enjoying his vacation in his native Barranquilla, where this weekend he married his partner of eight years: Geraldine Ponce, with whom he has two daughters.

'Lucho' celebrated his private wedding in the company of some teammates from the coffee-growing team, including former Barça center-back Yerry Mina and Daniel Muñoz (Crystal Palace), one of the full-backs who has openly offered to reinforce the culé defense.

While rumors about his possible signing for Barça grow, Díaz will rest for the next four weeks before joining Liverpool's preseason. The striker will wait until the end of the market for a blaugrana offer, his only alternative destination to Anfield Road.

If Barça finally decides to sign Nico Williams, the one from Barrancas will stay in the 'red' team. Beyond the incorporation of Florian Wirtz, the 'Guajiro' will continue to be a key piece for Arne Slot alongside Mohamed Salah.

The Dutch coach, in fact, has been the first to ask the club for his continuity, although he respects the player's desire to wait for an offer from Barça. In 24/25, Díaz scored 17 goals and 8 assists in 50 games (3,336 minutes).
