Due to his characteristics, price and salary, Luis Díaz looks like an ideal option for Barça's attack. Will Liverpool let him go?

Calendar of FC Barcelona

The possible signing of Luis Díaz by FC Barcelona continues to gain strength just days before the summer market opens. Although the Colombian international is still indisputable at Liverpool, there are strong reasons to consider the 28-year-old striker as the first option for the Blaugrana team when it comes to left wingers.

In their latest statements, both Deco and Hansi Flick expressed their admiration for Liverpool's '7', although negotiations between the parties have not yet begun. 'Lucho' is a fast player, with a lot of overflow, hitting power and associative play, in addition to experience in the European elite with the 'reds' and Porto, where he was for three years.

Financially, his price (around 75 million euros) and his salary (this season he invoiced 3.5 'kilos' net in England) are also a point in favor compared to other options such as Nico Williams and Rafael Leao, both almost ruled out by Barça for next season.

In that sense, Díaz is beginning to emerge as an ideal option to reinforce the culé attack. The sports management and the technical staff prioritize incorporating a player with his characteristics: with hierarchy, but low profile so as not to compromise the egos of a dressing room that this season competed wonderfully to help the team fight for all the titles at stake.

For Luis, 24/25 allowed him to win his first Premier League, in addition to rounding off quite interesting numbers. The Colombian added 17 goals and 8 assists in 49 games with Arne Slot's team, surpassing his goalscoring quota (13) compared to the previous year.

For this reason, the 'reds' prioritize renewing him for a couple more years, since his current contract ends in 2027. The 'Guajiro' is valued at 85 million, although Barça hopes to lower his price by about 10 'kilos'. To convince him to renew, Liverpool are willing to offer him a significant salary improvement that, even so, will keep him away from players like Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk.

Even so, Arne Slot himself joked about the possible interest of the Catalans in the Barrancas player, stating that, just as the Blaugrana board admires the South American player, he also feels the same for players like Raphinha and Lamine Yamal. That is, if Barça wants one of their forwards, the 'reds' could also go for a Blaugrana star.

In Barcelona, 'Lucho' could invoice about 5 'kilos' net per season, along with the possibility of fighting for the treble in a League that can suit his characteristic verticality wonderfully. In addition, the possible incorporation of Florian Wirtz can facilitate his departure this summer, given the high cost of the German attacking midfielder.

In any case, the Colombian will wait until the end of the Club World Cup to define his future. This position, in fact, also favors the culé interests, since Barça, for the moment, does not have 'Fair Play' or enough money in the bank to amortize transfers.

From now until July, the board hopes to have a much more encouraging outlook from a financial point of view. To incorporate another forward, the club needs to resolve the departure of its loaned players (Clément Lenglet, Álex Valle and Oriol Romeu), along with the fixed 'discards' of the current squad, with Ansu Fati being the most urgent case due to his very high salary (16 M€ gross).

As things stand, there is still much to resolve in Can Barça to activate the 'Operation Lucho', but the sensations are positive heading into the summer. The club will only make two or three incorporations, with the left winger and the flanks being the priorities to address.
