In the twilight of his career, Luis Suárez still has FC Barcelona very much in mind. In the midst of the crisis between Ronald Araújo and the club, it was the striker who warned the Catalans that the centre-back was studying Bayern's offer so that the Catalans could avoid his departure

On September 6, striker Luis Suárez ended his international career with the Uruguayan national football team. Regarding this farewell, FC Barcelona president Jaon Laporta praised the striker in his last press conference, where he said that he was a great player, despite not having the opportunity to coincide with him during his time at the Blaugrana club.

"Luis is an extraordinary player and a super nice person, very kind. I didn't have him when I was president but he helps us," said Laporta. "He has a good relationship with Deco and other people at the club and also with Araújo. I hope he does very well in his new life. Barça is his home and we will be delighted to have him in the framework of the 125th anniversary." And it is precisely through the relationship with his compatriot that he has been able to continue supporting the club, although in an indirect way.

Suárez and his help to Barça with Araújo

According to information from 'Mundo Deportivo' through sources from FC Barcelona, Suárez has advised Ronald Araújo, in these months of so much uncertainty about his future. It is no surprise to anyone that the Uruguayan defender was the target of interest from Bayern Munich. Added to this, his expulsion against PSG, his bad relationship with Gündogan, his doubts about a renewal and his injury suffered in the Copa América have caused the player to not feel at his best both physically and mentally.

During all this time, the now player Inter Miami has been supporting Araújo and the board knew it. For this reason, on several occasions he was asked how he saw the centre-back and on one of those occasions, Suárez revealed that the possibility of him going to Bayern was Real because, beyond the money, he wanted to compete for big titles. So they did not hesitate to act and the player was told that they wanted to renew his contract.

The player did not respond to the proposal and they consulted Suárez again. After speaking with the forward, it was suspected that the defender was not clear about the details of the club's offer and Laporta decided to speak personally with Araújo and explained everything he needed to know about the project they had with him in the medium and long term. In addition, he wanted to let him know that the team was willing to continue counting on him.

The Uruguayan still has not renewed

Last March, Laporta said: “Ronald is very integrated. What happens is that sometimes the communication does not end up reaching where it has to go. I am referring to the negotiations. I think this is already, in a way, resolved because there was some distortion when communicating everything we had in mind for Ronald.”

However, the player still has not renewed his contract, which ends in 2026. Therefore, they will have to act quickly to extend it or sell him next summer so that he does not leave for free. The footballer wants to take things calmly and focus on his recovery, but he will soon have to define his future with the Barça team.
