Real Madrid does not rule out signing another center-back in the final stretch of the summer market. Ibrahima Konaté is the chosen one by Xabi Alonso and Liverpool is already looking for a replacement for the Frenchman

The final stretch of the summer market may bring several 'bombshells' involving members of the Premier League's 'big six'. Liverpool, who have already spent 300 million on reinforcements this summer, are by no means closing their transfer window. Especially when Real Madrid threatens to 'steal' one of their starters.

According to the latest information from England, Ibrahima Konaté remains in contact with Madrid to become the next center-back for the 'Casa Blanca'.

The Frenchman's contract ends in 2026 and the 'merengues' want to repeat what they did with Trent Alexander-Arnold, although the Whites had to pay 10 'kilos' for the full-back to play in the Club World Cup.

Madrid's plan to sign Konaté: will the Frenchman arrive this year?

Well, Florentino Pérez's idea is to sign the 26-year-old defender for 'free' or, failing that, for a price lower than his current market value. The Parisian is currently valued at around €60 million on Transfermarkt and, if he ultimately refuses to renew with Liverpool, he could leave Anfield for around 40 million this summer.

In any case, the 'Reds' will make one last effort to renew him. If Konaté insists on leaving, he will be put up for sale in the face of the possibility of losing him for free in 2026. The French international started and played the 90 minutes in the defeat against Crystal Palace in the Community Shield and, beyond the doubts about his future, remains a starter in Arne Slot's team.

At the Santiago Bernabéu, for now, there is some calm thanks to the return of Éder Militao. The Brazilian scored a goal in the victory against Austrian Tirol (0-4) and is shaping up as Dean Huijsen's partner in the backline. Antonio Rüdiger, Raúl Asencio and David Alaba are also available in the squad, although the latter has been out of action for almost two years due to his continuous injuries.

In that sense, Madrid does not rule out signing another center-back this summer, as long as the 'free' arrival of Ibrahima Konaté in 2026 is in danger. Militao has also been in the infirmary for many months and neither Rüdiger nor Asencio are fully convincing Xabi Alonso. Therefore, the Whites are still very attentive to the future of the '5' at Anfield.

Liverpool already has replacements for Konaté for €75 million

Meanwhile, Liverpool continues to do its thing: spend without hesitation. Fabrizio Romano confirmed the 'Red' interest in Marc Guéhi, who could leave Crystal Palace for 40 million euros. In addition, those from Merseyside aim to close the signing of the Italian Giovanni Leoni.

The 18-year-old defender would leave Parma for 35 'kilos', a significant amount for a footballer of his age. If Konaté decides to leave, Guéhi will be in charge of accompanying Virgil van Dijk in defense.

Although it would be a sensitive loss, the board is not messing around and does not hesitate to continue signing players. Not in vain, the club is still bidding for Alexander Isak, even when Newcastle asks for around 170 million to let him go.
