Viktor Gyökeres seems to have his days numbered at Sporting CP. The drop in the Lisbon team's performance in the Champions League has convinced the '9' to force his exit for a price lower than expected
FC Barcelona could sign Viktor Gyökeres this summer at a bargain price. Recent reports indicate the 26-year-old forward's interest in forcing his exit from Sporting CP for a price close to 60 million euros, an amount that Barça is willing to invest in signing a left winger at the end of the 2024-25 season (Nico Williams would arrive for that price).
The Swedish international has scored 34 goals and provided 7 assists in 33 matches with his club, but he seems determined to make the leap to a big club after the decline of the 'lions' in Europe following the departure of coach Rúben Amorim. The team has maintained its lead in the league, but has only accumulated 1 of the last 9 points in the Champions League to qualify for the TOP-24.
In this sense, the '9' hopes to force his exit for a price affordable to all European giants, 15 'kilos' below his current value on Transfermarkt. For Barça, Gyökeres is one of the most reliable bets to replace Robert Lewandowski next summer, although the Pole is practically set to renew his contract and Joan Laporta continues to dream of the possibility of going for Erling Haaland in the future.
The Premier League is going all out for Gyökeres in the summer
However, Barça will face a lot of competition for Gyökeres in the upcoming transfer window, mainly from the Premier League. Manchester United is holding on to the Swede as a last hope to try to save Rúben Amorim's project at Old Trafford, although it will be difficult to convince the forward to join a team that will almost certainly not compete in European competitions in the 2025-26 season.
Similarly, Arsenal will go all out for Viktor in June. Mikel Arteta insists on signing a 'killer' to finally win the Premier League in 2026, a goal that has eluded them since 2004. Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus have not done a bad job, but they are evidently far from the records of Mohamed Salah and Erling Haaland, figures that the Sporting star is capable of achieving.
