Million-dollar renewal: Newcastle's last card to prevent Isak's departure to Liverpool

Calendar of FC Barcelona

Alexander Isak continues his soap opera with Newcastle United after the strong statements made by the player through his social networks in which he stated that his current team had not complied with part of the agreed agreements.

The 25-year-old striker, in a state of 'rebellion', made it clear that he will not play with the 'magpies' again and demanded his departure from the club. However, less than a week before the closing of the transfer market, Newcastle, in a desperate measure to retain their scorer, has offered him a contract renewal.

Alexander Isak is only thinking about leaving Newcastle

According to 'Sky Sports' and 'Daily Mail', the directors of the St. James Park club, Jamie Reuben and Jacobo Solis went to Alexander Isak's house to convince him to sign a new contract. His current contract ends in 2028 and the club demands, at least, 170 million euros to let him go.

Everything seems to indicate that Newcastle does not want to part with its star striker, even more so understanding that the market, in its final stretch, does not give room for maneuver to look for another '9' with characteristics similar to those of the Swede.

In fact, there are not many attackers with the characteristics of the '14' and the few with his quality are committed to their respective teams. Even so, the 'magpies' are confident of saving a relationship that seems totally broken.

Liverpool must improve their offer for Isak: how much is the Swede really worth?

In 24/25, the club broke a 70-year drought without titles with the obtention of the League Cup, where Isak scored the decisive goal in the final against Liverpool (1-2).

In total, the former Real Sociedad striker contributed 27 goals and 6 assists in 42 matches, being his top scorer in the season and his second highest assister, tied in numbers with Anthony Gordon and Bruno Guimarães.

The player has a value of 120 'kilos' and a contract until 2028, which under normal conditions would mean a transfer of more than 150 million. The 'reds' would have already offered 127 M€ (110 million pounds), an offer immediately rejected by the 'bianconeri' team.

The transfer market closes this September 1st and anything can happen, from here to next Monday. Therefore, Liverpool must improve its initial offer in the coming hours, perhaps reaching 150 M€ to keep Alexander Isak. Will this novel have a happy ending?
