Nick Woltemade sparks interest in the Barça coaching staff. The center forward is having a dreamlike U-21 European Championship
At FC Barcelona they don't want to miss out on the best talents in world football. So much so that they would have already set a target to follow very closely, as he is dazzling in the U-21 European Championship.
The player in question is named Nick Woltemade, known as the 'new Haaland', who is part of VfB Stuttgart. And it seems that the order to follow him would come from the highest level of the coaching staff.
In this sense, according to recent rumors, Hansi Flick himself would have expressed the desire to pay attention to what the center forward is doing.
The 23-year-old attacker has 6 goals in the European Championship that is being played in Slovakia, leaving remarkable performances with the German national team, which is already in the final that they will play against England.
Woltemade can also play as an attacking midfielder, and has already played twice with the German senior team, the latter in the semi-final match and for third place of the UEFA Nations League.
Woltemade, a profile similar to Haaland's
The player is compared to Erling Haaland, a Manchester City player, because they are contemporaries and because of how similar they are when it comes to standing out on the field.
In this sense, Nick Woltemade has qualities that resemble the Norwegian forward; an example of this is his height of 1.98, while he kicks with his right leg. Likewise, his good aerial and back play make him a '9' to take into account for the coming years, taking into account his age.
During the 2024/25 season, the '11' of Stuttgart scored 17 goals and assisted on 3 occasions, all this in 33 matches (2,039 minutes). Considering his age and that his team finished the season in ninth position, his records demonstrate by themselves the relevance of the type of player that Woltemade is.
Short-term option for Barça
In principle, the 2025/26 season will be the last for Barcelona's center forward, Robert Lewandowski, as next August 21 the Pole will turn 37 years old and with it the twilight of his career will begin to arrive.
For his part, Nick Woltemade has a value of 30 million euros, according to Transfermarkt. He also has a contract with the German team until 2028, and according to recent rumors, Barcelona would not be the only one interested in Spain.
Apparently, Real Madrid and Atlético de Madrid would also have shown interest in the '11'. However, Barça could attract him with the project they are forming, signing young players.
In this way, the power of the center forward could also make the Catalan team go for him in the near future in case no other big club in Europe closes his incorporation.
