Despite the tension that has surrounded Nico Williams in recent days due to his possible incorporation into FC Barcelona in the summer market, Athletic Club de Bilbao has acted as an intermediary, returning him to the mural from which he had been erased.

In this painting, made by local artist Carlos López, the youngest of the Williams appears next to his older brother Iñaki and Iker Muniain. It should be noted that on June 22 the mural was vandalized, apparently by fans of the Basque team.

Athletic Club itself announced through its social networks the restoration of the painting, so Nico's figure can be seen on the wall. The mural is located in the municipality of Barakaldo, province of Vizcaya.

In this context, the painting is one of the most important because it is a tribute to 'Los Leones' for being crowned champions of the Copa del Rey against Osasuna after winning 4-2 on penalties. The match in the 90 minutes ended 1-1, giving way to extra time, in which the result did not move.

In Bilbao they do not accept that Nico wants to join Barça

Since rumors began to point out that Barça and the '16' of 'La Roja' were in contact to find a way to dress him in blaugrana for the 2025/26 season, Athletic Club fans began to express their discontent, mainly through social networks.

In this order of ideas, the president of 'Los Leones' held a meeting with the president of LaLiga, Javier Tebas, to discuss issues related to Barça. This was confirmed through a statement by the 'Rojiblanco' team.

According to what was expressed in the letter, this meeting between both authorities was generated because Athletic Club requested it in the “framework of compliance with financial fair play.”

The president of Barça, Joan Laporta, has already stated that they are working to operate under the 1:1 rule. Similarly, he pointed out that steps have been taken so that the club does not present problems in terms of Financial Fair Play.

Barcelona-Nico agreement

According to recent rumors, Barça and Nico Williams would already have an agreement for the player to land in the Condal City and put on the blaugrana shirt. Thus, the Catalan team would be waiting for the summer transfer market to begin to pay the 58 million clause of the Pamplonés left winger.

Likewise, the agreement between the parties would be based on the player signing as a culé until 2031, with a net salary that will be between 7 and 8 million euros per year.

The attacker would have already communicated to Athletic Club his desire to change teams, because he would be sorry for not signing for Barça last summer when the club showed interest.
