At least five clubs are after Óscar Mingueza. The full-back's contract with Celta ends in 2026, and Barça could say goodbye to a significant 'slice' next summer

Calendar of FC Barcelona

The future of Óscar Mingueza strongly points abroad for the 2026/27 season. After a summer transfer window in which Celta de Vigo rejected offers in the region of 12-14 million euros, the 26-year-old defender will be able to negotiate as a free agent with any team starting next January 1st.

The one from Santa Perpètua de Mogoda's contract ends at the end of the current season and, for the moment, there is no news regarding a possible renewal with Celta. On the contrary, rumors about his possible departure are increasing, as is the number of clubs interested in the right-back.

England, Germany, France... possible destinations for Mingueza

The latest information points to Olympique de Marseille as one of the main candidates to sign Mingueza. Roberto De Zerbi's team currently only has the Panamanian Amir Murillo for the position, and Óscar would have the Italian coach's 'OK', especially given the possibility of signing him on a 'free transfer'.

Similarly, in Germany, RB Leipzig is following the footsteps of the FC Barcelona youth academy product. After his departure from the Catalan club in 2022, Mingueza earned a starting spot at Celta, even catching the attention of the Spanish national team. This season, the '3' has played 14 games (843 minutes), 10 of them as a starter for Claudio Giráldez's team.

Although Óscar is no longer undisputed for the coach of the Galician team, Celta's board is betting on his renewal. In England, **Newcastle, Aston Villa, and West Ham** are rumored as possible destinations for the Santa Perpètua de Mogoda native, while awaiting to know if the defender decides to leave Balaídos as a free agent

Celta and Barça Remain Unchanged on Óscar Mingueza

In almost three and a half seasons, Mingueza has scored 7 goals and provided 12 assists in 114 official matches for the Vigo team. **Celta set his release clause at 20 million euros**, but 50% of his sporting rights still belong to Barça, who agreed to let him go for free in 2022 while also retaining a buy-back option for 10 million.

In this regard, both clubs are clear about their stance regarding the Catalan defender. Barça does not plan to get him back and is only attentive to the possibility of earning 10 million from his future sale. Celta, for its part, prioritizes renewing him and keeping his sale price intact, understanding that only half will go into their coffers.

Óscar, for his part, while grateful to Celta for the trust and support provided in recent years, seems interested in a change of scenery in 2026. **Signing as a free agent would also allow him to negotiate a higher contract**, but the '3' has no intention of leaving the Galician team on bad terms, far from it.

Therefore, it is likely that the club will hold a 'summit' with his agent shortly to resolve doubts regarding the Catalan's future. Before leaving Barça, Mingueza played 66 games for the first team, contributing 2 goals and 5 assists. He also won a Copa del Rey in 2021 with Ronald Koeman, the coach who gave him his top-flight debut in 20/21.
