Lucas Vázquez is now, for all intents and purposes, a Bayer Leverkusen player. The Galician footballer spent ten seasons with Real Madrid and will now join the 'aspirins' team managed by Dutch coach Erik ten Hag.

The now ‘21’ of the German team signed a contract until June 2027, thus securing two seasons in the Bundesliga. The winger converted into a full-back, at 34 years old, will continue playing at the highest level, and will even compete in the Champions League with the ‘werkself’.

Lucas Vázquez's message to announce his arrival in Germany

Lucas also spoke through X and left a message for the fans of the 'red and black' team: "Here I am, stepping onto the stadium for the first time. It's impressive, I'm looking forward to playing my first game here".

Erik ten Hag, after Jeremie Frimpong's departure to Liverpool, will entrust Lucas Vázquez with the right side of Leverkusen. A risky bet, to say the least, since although he is a footballer who can be important in attack, he comes from a disastrous last season with Real Madrid.

In 24/25, the player from Curtis was repeatedly exposed by rival forwards, with Raphinha being one of his main tormentors. The Barça '11' destroyed him in the Liga and Spanish Super Cup Clásicos, where the Brazilian scored 5 goals and also provided 3 assists.

Lucas Vázquez and his first experience outside of Spain

The former Madrid captain had several offers on the market, from teams in Saudi Arabia to some in Europe. The player's last match with the 'Casa Blanca' was in the Club World Cup in the 4-0 defeat against Paris Saint-Germain in the semi-finals.

In his ten seasons, Lucas played a total of 402 matches with the 'merengue' club, scoring a total of 38 goals and providing 73 assists. His record includes four La Liga titles and five Champions League titles, as well as four European Super Cups and five Club World Cups. Will the 34-year-old player be able to adapt to German football?
