Real Madrid made official the loan of Endrick Felipe to Olympique de Lyon. The Brazilian was a definite discard for Xabi Alonso and will play the rest of the season in France
Endrick Felipe is now an Olympique de Lyon player. On Wednesday afternoon, the team managed by Paulo Fonseca announced the signing of the 19-year-old forward, who arrives on a six-month loan after a testimonial first half of the season with Real Madrid. Xabi Alonso barely played him for 99 minutes in 3 matches, all as a substitute.
Lyon is fifth in Ligue 1 with 27 points, ten behind leaders **Lens** (37), while in the **Europa League** they lead the league phase standings with 15 points and a +10 goal difference. The French club announced the signing of the Brazilian with an emotional video presenting him as a Christmas gift for the fans.
"This year Christmas falls on December 23rd," says the message shared by Olympique on its social media. Endrick will wear the number '9' and hopes to establish himself as a starter in France, after a year and a half with little prominence in Madrid.
Endrick's Loan: No Buy Option or Financial Compensation
Real Madrid agreed to loan the forward for only six months, with no option to buy and saving only 1 million of the 4 that the player, who came up through Palmeiras, earns annually. The 'White House' acquired his transfer in 2024, paying 35 million net plus another 25 'kilos' in variables that are not very difficult to meet.
In addition, the transfer included an extra €12 million in taxes, which brings the total cost of the operation to €72 million. Beyond the stir generated by his signing, Endrick barely played 847 minutes in his first season in Spain, spread across 37 matches in which he scored 7 goals and provided 1 assist.
His injury absence from the Club World Cup was decisive in Xabi Alonso opting for Gonzalo García as Kylian Mbappé's backup. Therefore, the Brazilian's departure had been a foregone conclusion for several months. Finally, Lyon managed to sign him as a star reinforcement for the second half of the 25/26 season
Endrick's Future, Completely Open for the Summer
Now, the 19-year-old player will try to establish himself in the European elite so that, by next summer, he has options to fight for a place in the Madrid squad. The 'Merengues', failing that, hope that Endrick Felipe explodes in Ligue 1 thinking about a possible transfer next summer.
For now, the Brazilian is valued at around 25 'kilos' on 'Transfermarkt' and Florentino Pérez dreams of at least recovering the investment made in the South American forward. Los Blancos already paid €47.5 million of the €72 million that the transfer of the '9' could cost, whose contract ends in 2030.
As long as Mbappé remains the focal point of the attack, Endrick and any other forward will have zero options to establish themselves in the 'Merengue' squad, regardless of whether Xabi Alonso continues on the bench
The decision to let go of Endrick is striking, as the club is overly reliant on Kylian's goals. The Frenchman, for now, has scored 24 of Real's 52 goals in all competitions (46%).
