OFFICIAL: Sesko is now a new Manchester United player until 2030

This Saturday, Manchester United made official the signing of Benjamin Sesko until 2030, one of the center forwards with the greatest projection at present. The Old Trafford team managed to beat Newcastle United after not being able to acquire the services of Viktor Gyökeres in this summer market.

"The history of Manchester United is undoubtedly very special, but what really excites me is the future. When we talked about the project, it became clear that everything is in place for this team to continue growing and compete again for the big trophies," said Šeško after his arrival.

In the last two seasons, the new 'reds devils' player has managed to score more goals than any other player under 23 years of age in the five major leagues.

In that sense, Sesko in the 2024/25 season scored 21 goals and provided 6 assists, while in the 2023/24 season he was able to beat the nets with 18 goals, apart from assisting on 2 occasions. The player recorded 39 goals in 87 games with RB Leipzig.

United sees Sesko as the perfect signing to lead their attack

The Slovenian signed his signature after a negotiation between Leipzig and Manchester United that closed in a figure that is around 85 million euros, according to various media.

Of course, the price for the 'reds devils' was not a major inconvenience, and they already place their hopes on him, seeing him as one of the greatest talents in European football; at least that is what Jason Wilcox, sports director of the English team, implied.

"Benjamin possesses an exceptional combination of dizzying speed and the ability to physically dominate defenders, which makes him one of the most exceptional young talents in world football," he said.

The illusion for the player not only takes place at United, since since his historic debut in 2021 as the youngest footballer to wear the Slovenia shirt, Benjamin Sesko already has 41 appearances with the national team, in which he has signed 16 goals, consolidating himself as the main figure of his national team.

Gyökeres escaped and United accelerated for Sesko

Before launching into the market for Sesko, United had already signed Bryan Mbeumo for 75 M€ and Matheus Cunha for 74.20 'kilos'. However, the English giant wanted to block Arsenal's path when he was still negotiating with Sporting de Portugal to hire Gyökeres.

Despite this, the Swedish player always put forward his desire to join the 'gunners', so he dismissed any attempt by Manchester to try to convince him.

In the end, Gyökeres became Arsenal's star reinforcement until 2030 in exchange for 63 million fixed euros, plus another 10 in variables, for which the 20-time champions of the English league set as their goal the signing of Benjamin Sesko.

One less option for Barça

In this order of ideas, the landing of Sesko at Manchester United makes FC Barcelona lose a possible option to reinforce their squad facing the summer market of 2026.

The Catalan team considers the native of Radece a player with enormous potential, but had not planned to get into bids for him, at least during this summer. Similarly, the club contemplates other options such as Julián Álvarez, Alexander Isak or Erling Haaland.
